I've been noticing more and more obese people with handicap placard lately and it's starting to piss me off. I don't understand why they are being given these privileges. I don't understand why they need it and I don't understand why the government think they need it. Handicapped parking was introduced to aid the physically disabled people who have a hard time moving about on their own. It was introduced for the convenience for the people who are handicapped due to accidents or disabilities they were born with. People who suffer from obesity do not fit to either one of these categories. They did not accidentally become stupidly fat, they were not born stupidly fat and the only disability they suffer from is the inability to put the fucking fork down. The way I see it, they should be forced to park as far away from their destination as possible.
dude obesity could be a disability man...sometimes it's a health condition or a mental condition you never know...anyways are you sure they not disabled in any other way though, i mean if they were fucking enormous, it's hard to squeeze outta small gap in parking yo, that might be the problem.....but i rarely see people have these handicap placards just for being obese though.
At the University I attend and at the grocery stores I go to, more often that not I would see 2 or 3 of them. It is very very rare that a physical condition will lead to their large size. Also, I would have more compassion if they made an effort to deal with their weight problem. 9 times out of 10 do I see them walking to and from their car with a double gulp from 7-11.
^maybe it's very hard to deal with it man...i think obesity is just like any other addiction yo...probably just like cigarettes...but i think obesity would take alot of time to lose because the healthy way would've require tons of excercise and diet...and the unhealthy way...liposuction is freaking dangerous. Anyways also you don't personally know them right...so you just assuming about their conditions from what you see. Also i wouldn't care if they parked in those spots since i can't use them anyways...leave other spaces free for me haha....but just bad for the true handicaps if they are faking it or whatnot.
-rotfl hell I personally think handicap people shouldn't even be allowed to drive.. but thas just me.. -innocent
lol my friend has a handicapp parking thingy and he isn't even disabled bitch get all the nice spots LOOOL but yeah i don't mind people with handicap parking unless the parking lot like the movie theater i use to go to made a bajillion handicap parking only spaces....>____<
lol that sounds pretty cruel man...-devil don't discriminate peace and love ya'll... but i do discriminate against stinky ppl -kekemad
Oh...wait til you meet up with these guys in peak hour trains5 of these guys can take up a 20 man space
Well... considering how slow they walk and how they usually just walk like how they want. If they were to park further away, they would have to walk to the supermarket or the shopping mall. Then, you with your car, if your searching for a spot, you gotta search from line to line (if it's crowded) or driving to the front if you want a better closer spot. But now, lets say that obese person with his family or whatever is parked (as you suggested) further away, they would necessarily have to walk on the parking lot and you would necessarily have to pass next to him/her/them. What if they are walking in the middle of the road (like a lot of what people do and would just get on the side if there's car or something behind them)? Obese people take longer time than normal size people to walk (only considering weight difference). Well, let's say you're that car behind them, you see a nice spot in the front, you're still behind them, while they are walking to let you pass, someone else took that spot, wouldn't you be happy if they DIDN'T park that far???
no one asks to obese. no one wants to be called fatso. eating is an addiction and ppl tend to enable this addiction more than any other one because they dont understand it. being at a weight of 3-4 hundred pounds does slow your mobility and often times they need to walk with canes and stuff like that so some of them are considered for the handicapped parking. i think it's fair and justified that obese ppl receive the pass for it as long as they fit the criteria. where i live all the ppl who have the pass actually need it. they're pretty strict about it here and ppl actually report abuse.
obesity isnt a disease. obesity is a fucking choice. Things like thyroid problems and pituitary problems are diseases. I've seen fat ass people at McD's complaining about how eating the shit will get them fat, its absolutely ridiculous. 60 years ago you would never have seen people with significantly over average BMI's, because there were no fast food outlets, and junk food didn't dominate the shelves at supermarkets. People have done this to themselves. You have the choice to be fat or not, all you gotta do is put down the burger and get on the motherfucking treadmill.
you never know... obesity in people can cause problems which leads to health issues that causes disabilities. i don't think i'm on either side of this argument. fat ppl if not given handicap parking would have to walk more which should be beneficial to them. on the other hand, if they suffer too much walking long distances, then they should get the parking. it's better for the rest of us to find parking since handicap parking is usually vacant most of the time.
^ u get a ticket for that from where im from, but prob every1 does too rite? hmmm yaeh obesity = handicap = b.s. imo, i think obesity is their own fault, they eat cuz they're emo, and they're emo cuz they're obesity, not much else there is to it.. i know some few cases some ppl are big boned, but that's not relaly obese... they only start eatting becuz they think they're fat already.. therefore truning them into obesity, if the education is higher in middle/highschool about eatting healthy/dieting/working out, then i gurantee obesity would be lower.. that's a wholenother issue! but that's just back to the point.. obesity should not be considered handicapped, although in some cases, obesity will lead[/B ]to disability thus, leading to them be considered disable.. it's a sad cycle sadly..
Exactly - it's an addiction that society now accepts as a disability and that's not necessarily right. There are some people who are obese because of a health condition. I know a girl who put on tons of weight because she had thyroid cancer and that made her put on weight (don't ask me how, but it did). Those kinds of people can't help it (oh, and as a side note, once my friend got healthy again, she worked her freaking butt off to lose the excess weight she gained). And then there are those who are obese because they are addicted to eating and as a society, we're letting them know it's okay by giving them perks like handicap parking. Instead of encouraging these people to lead healthier lifestyles, we're telling them, "Hey, it's okay if you wanna continue living the way you are and become another burden on our health care systems." I agree that we can't simply judge all obese people, but for those who became obese by choice, we need to stop telling them that it's okay and stop treating their choice-made obesity as a disability.
lol luckily i don't ride trains... anyways i still think obesity could swing either way, as a disease or a choice...But yea i guess laziness does factor alot into obesity..but some people simply don't have the time to eat healthy and workout properly i guess. Like fuck fast food is the most in-expensive food that will fill you up the most for the best value....but it's fat ass hell....and gym membership, not everyone actually wants to pay for that shit. but a counter-argument would be that they can pretty much run their asses off and do crunches. So in the end..usually obesity would be because of the individual choices i guess...but still i think some should be qualified for the special parking because of various reasons stated in the previous posts. Still it's one thing to discriminate the people who got obese from like a disease or health condition that is inevitable, that is wrong. But i guess it's okay to laugh at those lazy asses who don't give a shit about their health and treat eating as a hobby and do nothing to lose their weight. These people i don't feel any pity for, cause it's all their fault.
i mean thinking of it logically, disabled parking spaces are usually larger than normal ones and obese ppl should have handicapped parking cos otherwise, it will be very tight for them to get out of the vehicle lol. though i do understand ur frustation and by having disabled parking spaces so close to the entrance does not help them to lose weight. maybe in the future there may be obese parking spaces especially for obese ppl lol.
