Here are some of the reviews for the multiplayer part of GTA IV, it sounds absolutely stunning, I for one cannot wait all the reviews are for the 360, but feature wise both 360 and ps3 will be exactly the same http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/865/865088p1.html http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/acti...vert&om_clk=newlyadded&tag=newlyadded;title;1 http://www.gamesradar.com/xbox360/g...on/a-200804085550713049/g-2006051014323586065
I don't have much high hopes for the multiplayer.. but at theres added on there.. should be fun running around blowing dudes up with a rocket launchers.. but at the sametime.. i think everyone's just gonna hop on a car n try to run pple over..
is there a tank versus hunter matchup or what...haha fucking warzone down the city if fucking all the tanks blow up everything. but i saw some stuff on it...one drives the bike, the other drivebys, didn't check the full details yet but hope the driveby person can do it like first person mode...would feel halo-ish. and to find out i still have to buy a ps3 -ann
yea man probably get the version with MGS4 and Dual Shock 3 controller...-woot2 but no money at the moment...-what?
lol have you guys read the reviews? the mulitplayer is not just about blowing each other up and running each other over (although you can totally do that if you want to) I for one think the mulitplayer is gonna be great cause the current multiplayer realm is just dominated by FPSs and this is gonna be completely different
don't worry man it won't be soon...it'll be a while before i get it haha.... haven't read but damn is it up to 16 players...8 on 8 or what...fucking try to kill each other through the city that would be awesome...it will be a big ass hunt....
there are so many multiplayer modes, including freeroam, where the host can choose, if there are guns, cops, cars, etc, etc i think the best mode is called cops n crooks:
The people who tested the game didnt play on LAN, they played 4vs4 via the internet and the only lag reported was when everyone decided to fire the RPG at the same time, but out of all those reviews no one reported any lag issues
MP is gonna be pretty fun i think, in the pas when i have completed all the mission, i would never touch it again.. with MP i hope it extend some of the playing time. else it will be the same as assasin creed, " you'll get a sex! but shame its a one night stand"
ROFL, think about it, they are the ONLY guys playing the game on the internet with perfect settings and a lovely unstressed server etc.. when its released and the whole world is playing GTA online its gona LAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG -surr The thought of such a large game-world being kept in sync between players across the globe is something i will have to see to believe.
then ur talking about BF2, BF2142 and other large scale online games lagging constantly, which they do not.... Ive played 64 player BF2 servers which have large maps, have jets flying overhead, tanks rumbing around and everyone else frantically shooting each other, yet it works and works fine also no one actually plays globally because due to physics it takes too long no matter what game, people generally stick to their own region. Americans play Americans, Europeans play Europeans and Asians play Asians, and that works Ive also played believe it or not San Andreas online, with more than 16 people at once! and that was an unofficial program made by people for free and yes that includes the entire san andreas map, with all vehicles and even the ability to build onto the world yes they were the only people playing it, but im sure that they would have tested and foreseen any large stresses on the network and whether it is feasible, otherwise there would be no point releasing a online MP so from my experience 16 player GTA IV is gonna be no problem. Even if there are network problems to begin with, they always get patched
theres a big big difference between Battlefield and a super detailed word of GTA. If the world of online games worked like that there wouldn't be any such thing as a laggy game. in the world of business a game is feasible if its going to make money. Once again, if it worked like that we wouldn't have laggy games. some games are just laggy. GTA may work online as long as you are not to far away from the people you are playing with, but as soon you start playing with people from other countries it will cause problems, especially with the current PS3 online service and im sure Live will have trouble too. i dont think the infrastructure is there to properly handle a game like GTA world-wide. You gota have spit second responses to avoid getting mowed down etc, ANY lag will result in death in such a game so i believe you will have to be rather local to the people you are playing with. Either way, we have differing opinions and different experiences, let just wait and see.
Then your talking about the consoles ability to run the game properly and not really anything to do with network capability. When you play online, your console renders the game and only information that is needed such as player position, ammo, money, health, actions are sent over the net, everything else would be local to the machine So if you say GTA wont work online because it is too detailed then it shouldnt work in single player either yes your right, but it has to at least be feasible and work decently before such an anticipated game like GTA IV would have MP included. most games are laggy because peoples internet connections are not good enough, they play in a server that is located half way round the world, etc and yes there are often server issues But 90% of the time, it works and thats the point. If you lag on one server go to another playing with people in other countries will pose no problems so long as they are within a reasonable distance. So for me in the UK, i play people in germany, france and netherlands, etc that is fine, and for a game like BF2 or CSS you dont think split second responses are more important than a game like GTA? There are systems in place to counter the latency between people Are you thinking of this a bit out of hand, Halo online works fine online and im sure that has many many people playing. COD4 online works fine on PS3 and 360 and thats 16 player. the infrastructure is there but i guess like you said, we wont really know till its released. but i just dont think its as severe as you paint the picture. its gonna have its problems, but nothing that cannot be sorted
