Baby born with 2 faces in north India, villagers worship her as a goddess Gurinder Osan, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS SAINI SUNPURA, India - A baby with two faces was born in a northern Indian village, where she is doing well and is being worshipped as the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess, her father said Tuesday. The baby, Lali, apparently has an extremely rare condition known as craniofacial duplication, where a single head has two faces. Except for her ears, all of Lali's facial features are duplicated. She has two noses, two pairs of lips and two pairs of eyes. "My daughter is fine - like any other child," said Vinod Singh, 23, a poor farm worker. Lali has caused a sensation in the dusty village of Saini Sunpura, 40 kilometres east of New Delhi. When she left the hospital, eight hours after a normal delivery on March 11, she was swarmed by villagers, said Sabir Ali, the director of Saifi Hospital. "She drinks milk from her two mouths and opens and shuts all the four eyes at one time," Ali said. Rural India is deeply superstitious and the little girl is being hailed as a return of the Hindu goddess of valour, Durga, a fiery deity traditionally depicted with three eyes and many arms. Up to 100 people have been visiting Lali at her home every day to touch her feet out of respect, offer money and receive blessings, Singh told The Associated Press. "Lali is God's gift to us," said Jaipal Singh, a member of the local village council. "She has brought fame to our village." Village chief Daulat Ram said he planned to build a temple to Durga in the village. "I am writing to the state government to provide money to build the temple and help the parents look after their daughter," Ram said. Lali's condition is often linked to serious health complications, but the doctor said she was doing well. "She is leading a normal life with no breathing difficulties," said Ali, adding that he saw no need for surgery. Lali's parents were married in February 2007. Lali is their first child. Singh said he took his daughter to a hospital in New Delhi where doctors suggested a CT scan to determine whether her internal organs were normal, but Singh said he felt it was unnecessary. "I don't feel the need of that at this stage as my daughter is behaving like a normal child, posing no problems," he said. © The Canadian Press, 2008 Story from TELUS NEWS: http://www.mytelus.com/ncp_news/article.en.do?pn=oddities&articleID=2900882
It seems like India has a lot of special births like this. A while back I saw a video on CNN about an Indian girl being born with extra limbs (arms), but the problem was like it was a dead twins limbs that was grown into the baby or something. WEIRD STUFF!
i read about this the other day! people believe she is a god... i think she is just an unfortunate human genome mutation
Hope she won't have to wear glasses.... >_> And yeah, I think that's the result of mutation due to polluted water, food, air, etc. All those chemical stuff being thrown away in the rivers and such or dissipated in the air.
^lol aliens implanting their seeds into the womb!!!!!! First Target is India....then....muahhahahahha damn that fucking sucks. wonder if the baby can use all of their eyes and mouths, or none...that would suck...and i don't think they can fix this cause the operation would look to be very fatal/dangerous.
Wassup with all these wierd news from india these days.....-unsure I wouldnt be happy if my child were born like that..., But since they are poor, the (2face) baby added some *financieel* profit. The villagers even wants to build a temple for this child.... erm, .... a gift from god eh.....w/e if they are happy about it. It feels like they want to make the child a tourist attraction, dunno if that is the right way to let a child growup in such an enviroment -unsure
wtf, Fame for this =P ewwwwww. So this is like 'attracting Tourists to the Town to see the '2 faced goddess' People can really be Selfish
I do feel for the parents i do, i realise being poor and uneducated, having so much media attention and having their daughter hailed as a god is exciting for them, but if they loved their daughter, they shd take the doctor's advice and go for the scans etc, it could mean the doctors can spot anything early and sort it out, otherwise they could easily lose their daughter.
