^Nah, I don't think Fala's death had a great impact on Roy. I think Roy learnt his lesson when he lost his fortune in the stocks. In fact, Fala's death made him worse...he tried to kidnap and kill that rich guy
ye shows how much roy cared about fala. i kind of hoped that roy would have learnt his lesson ages ago and made a decent life rather than having to go to prison and losing all the money. u would think that with his father always warning him and when he started to lose all the money, he would have turned over a new leaf.
I love this series alot, its a meaning ful series, in this series, there's different type of ppl, its just showing us, in this world, there's all ppl around us, we might dun know.. to Fala & Roy , there's ppl same as them , climbing up to get wat they want and using lots of different unhealthy way.. and might got ppl around us , end up is same as they both .. need to pay for it.. And another i would felt, there's ppl same character and Linda's ( gaga ) early is a playful girl , but inner of her is mercy and there's oso some ppl same as Steven ( Onn Boy ) .. good, nice and perfect man.. so, in this series, all ppl got their own different chracter and they showed us, different type of ending they got.. i actually get lots of messages fr this series, i love the series alot.. to Gaga, she's being playful and she meet alot of different matter, so while come to the end, she wont drop and could get up for new life again after she loose her baby, but to Onn Boy, since he was born, he got everything is just nice and good. but while he come to face his died of daughter and sis.. he cant get up fr there..and need helps of GaGa, i felt is pretty touching and its gives me some messages lo.. And of course, there's lots of parent just same as Kent ( Fei Manager + Fei Si Lai ) and oso Onn Boy Mum.. greatest parent to care for their children no matter wat happen to them.. and many mores.. of other cast.. such as Onn Boy youngest sis story.. SO, i love this series alot.. lots of messages that is useful in our life .. great story line, great cast and great series..
^You know, you got a point there. I never looked at it this way, but you're right. Steven had a relatively comfortable life all along. That's why when faced with major hardships, he struggled to get back again. But with Linda's help, it enlightened him.
ye linda helped him alot but i do think its because of his would have been daughter that helped him to get there in the end. but then again he was pretty strong in the first place as a person but it was bcos of the death of his sister and the baby together which caused this.
^But his daughter was just a figment of imagination, probably brought about by the words Linda said to him when he wanted to give up. He was pretty strong in the first place because he has never really faced any major hardships, and the two deaths really put him to the test. Anyways, I think it's a great portrayal of the ups and downs in life.
yea i also agree, that is quite a gd representation about the ups and downs of life. also throughout the series wat kent says is showing u how to live an honest life and to show that life isn't just about money.
this series was very good. i loved it. the story wasn' boring at all. very good. hope there will be a second one!
I wasn't expecting to watch this series but, I am glad that I did. It was a really good series about life and death and how each character chose their path and how realistic Fala's character was. This is a good series and very surprised that Steven and Linda's chemistry was quite fresh and sweet.
I just finished watching this series after streaming it this whole week! I couldn't stop - the series got really addicting. I initially watched it only because of Steven Ma (I'm a big fan), and I have to admit the beginning was a little boring. But I'm glad I stuck with it, because it got much better - I think it may be one of my favourite TVB series! I really enjoyed Linda and Steven's relationship in this series.. it was so cute and sweet. It was my first time watching Linda acting, and I think she did a pretty good job (although her laugh was annoying at times). "Fat Boss" was also excellent. I loved his little phrases (So good, so bad, etc) and his philosophical take on the various situations that life presents. I think AJCL is a fabulous series - it offers humour, heartbreak, and hope. I like the optimism that emerges despite all the tragic situations. It teaches one to be open-minded and positive even in the darkest moments of life. And as always, Steven Ma doesn't disappoint in this series. I just watched Ultra Protection (1999) before I watched this series, so it was really interesting to see Steven playing such different roles (a spoiled rich kid in UP, and a humble, filial son in AJCL). I really admire him - there is just something in him that exudes integrity and honesty no matter what role he plays. I look forward to watching more of him in modern TVB series! Any suggestions or recommendations?
This is definitely one of the best TVB drama in recent years. Lots of different aspect in this series reflecting the modern Hong Kong society, poor vs rich, the hard workers vs the shortcut takers, the love chaser vs the money chasers, ..etc. The development of Linda's character from the start to the end of the series is also extremely well done.
