i'm a mix viet, i have both north and south in me...and yes there is a difference in the two, they are small differences but they are there, things like different words for the same thing and subtle differences in personalities...it's not that we hate eachother, there's only one vietnam now and its communist ways will eventually disappear in the future...

In Vietnam the south and the north is like the blacks and the whites in Canada or the U.S. except one race didn't enslave the other, the discrimination is there today within the older folks, and the discrimination was certainly there during the older days. Just my 2 cents. Or, 3 cents, I don't know LOL. Well, I'm Buc and I'm proud to be so. But I guess like today in Canada or the U.S. the racism has dispersed, and if discrimination is found they are shunned and unappreciated.

I'm North and know quite a few southern over here in the UK there isn't really any of that kind of thing going on.. The southern vietnamese have a stronger accent than the northern. Could be because we have a slight mix with the chinese accent

I'm mixed of both North and South, parents from Saigon and Hanoi lol.
I'm mostly South so the only problem I have with North is...I have no idea wtf they're saying when they talk.

South Vietnam FTW, south Vietnam has more freedom, north Vietnam is a country in transitions to a free market.

  11. i'm both south and north so when i talk it's like half half :S i don't really notice about the difference though my parents just sees a viet person regardless if they're south and north and say oh they're viet lol. they only dislike the north viet accent after 1975 or something.

  12. Yes, it don't matter north or south. I think vietnamese should hold together to build our country better. Why don't some people want vietnam to develop? The past passed and we must accept that conditions have changed. Don't live in the enmity of the past.

North and South people have different lifestyles and education. North will always say bad about the south and likewise with the south for the north. I think it's just people who are more comfortable with their own kind get confused about their differences.

Although we're all viet, I do sense the discrimination against the north viet people at times. Eventually as time passes, I don't think this will be as a problem as it is now though.

I don't really understand what you're saying, so if I'm totally off subject, ignore my post.

It must be the people you're around that's like that. My grandparents, parents, aunts/uncles really dont give a damn; it's not a big deal anymore. There say stereotypical stuff and what not but they don't hate them, the northerners. Anyone and anywhere in the world will have some sort of stereotype. Like people have been saying: one more generation and all that will be gone (hopefully.)

About the people in the US being patriotic and not accepting what's what, UHHH, what!? The Vietnamese people I see here, in Florida, love how Vietnam has come to be--a better place.

Yo, as I keep reading your original post, I get more confused and I'm confusing myself answering this. WOWOWOOW I should just stop. loool sorry you guys had to read this =]
