hmmm the cooper doesnt fit my needs... at that price id rather get a civic...

wahts the fit like? ive never driven those small cars before... i guess i could give it a test.

what about mazda3? according to this site i was reading they're pretty sporty but kinda small.. and i dont really like the rear lights.. too round for my tastes =P

maybe ill try toyota.. but corollas are even more common than civics and that was one of the reasons i was considering buying other cars.

vancouver right now... but im gonna be in waterloo...

hmmm is it possible to buy a car in calgary and pick it up in toronto? that would save me a bunch on tax

  6. fearless_fx

    fearless_fx Eugooglizer

wont work, you have to pay PST in the place you are registering it. unless you are a resident of calgary and you can register the car there its a no go.

yep my parents live in calgary... so i guess they can register it for me? im not sure how it works. anyways.. 8% pst or whatever is a lot more than about $700 to ship the car to toronto =P

oh... im just in vancouver for the summer.. haha vacation =D

yea... it would be nice to have my own g35 =D but my parents want me to buy a NEW car.. not even one of those slightly used 5 year factory warrantee cars =(

edit: and about the xrs... theres nothing really outstanding about it and for 23k i have a lot of other options....

hmm probably kitchener... i go to school there afterall =P

haha i guess the impreza isnt as good as i thought... maybe ill go with the gts lancer + package afterall. but i really hate the taillights and how the rear is.. looks really ugly to me~~ oh well i guess ill learn to like it.

one more thing is awd... is it really that useful vs fwd for driving in snow?

    08 impreza back: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/sedlmeier101/DSC_0007.jpg
    front with sports grille: http://i29.tinypic.com/334j2c3.jpg

Just a remind to everyone the OP is from CANADA so he mean 27K is Canada money. ( at first i was wtf 27K for a civic)

lancer to me is like a big piece of plastic car. I like the civic's back, not the front..

Get the Nissan Altima (with coupe)

    BTW i drive a Camry 2007 (V6)

haha we think alike =) i love the altima coupe.... but coupes are so impractical. its hard for ppl to get in the back, and impossible to put stuff there (like boxes and stuff for when i move).. also... from my own experience in a coupe it feels really dangerous to me... cuase its like... if theres a fire or something theres no door i can open to get out.

anyways.. like i said i DID consider the altima.. but tehres just something about it.... lacking some features. i guess ill keep it in mind too. the other day i was at those nissan dealerships but the service is horrible there.. the salespeople were just chatting at their desks hidden at the back and there was NO ONE around to offer me any assistance >_>... so i just left.

haha hows the camry btw? besides the bulge in the middle of the front of the car, i think it looks pretty nice. too bad its out of my price range =P

the imprezza hatch is actually nice imo if u don't care about the sunroof ...but if u want the sunrood then the lancer isn't that bad either...and u're gonna b driving so u won't notice the back much rite? u'll learn to appreciate your car either way....AWD is better to drive on snow but FWD is all you need in ontario IMO

haha o man not in waterloo... it starts getting cold in like september... starts snowing in october and doesnt stop snowing until april.

i think i can live without a sunroof... after all i can just open a window cause i just need it for air circulation... but i sometimes when i open a window the wind gets in my eyes and they dry out really fast... i guess that doesnt justify the 1.5k something price of a moonroof though, eh? =P

how much better is awd in snow? ive driven my friend's civic in snow before (haha eveyone has a civic tehse days) and it slips even at slow speed during left turns...

in terms of safety in snow, which of the 3 would be better? i guess i really do have to test the cars out for myself hmm....

edit: altima is nice too.. but is lacking a lot of features considering its a 24k BASE car.. like a good sound system, maybe a sunroof, steering wheel audio controls, auxilary input etc.... it even has steelies... i mean come on....

lol is waterloo that bad??? and plus u neeed wintertires to really make driving in winter effective but since its AWD it should be safer and better handling i assume....and test driving the car now wouldn't prepare you for the winter lol so ya...get more car advise like chek car forums.......if u really like the subie then u should go for it because ur stuck with the car for a while im assuming... and just open the back windows unless they make ur eye dry too? lol

o and u dont like coupes?? rn't u gona b driving alone most of the time? so then it won't bother u gettin in the back seat rite??????

    1) terrible understeer... remember, this is the 2.5i, not the wrx and absolutely not the sti
    2) u dont' need awd for 170hp... in fact, it's a waste u'll be actually getting more like 140whp after drivetrain loss
    3) u might as well take the other two for gas mileage
    4) scoobie trannies in general are pretty bad... especially the autos... the only exception would be the STi's bulletproof tranny... and maybe the Legacy's... don't quote me on the latter though as i haven't done enuff research to be sure...

o... and in terms of safety in snow... just get the civic + snow tires... all 3 cars don't generate enuff power to get u into too much trouble... if u claim u were driving slowly, then u slipping in teh snow in a civic is probably cuz u were braking through the turn

yea waterloo sucks =P i dont knwo ive never been one to go crazy over coupes or convertibles or two-seaters and such... i prefer a nice 4 door sedan haha... maybe im just weird

wahts understeer? like when u turn the wheel and it doesnt turn enough? strange.. i was reading this site where they said the steering is TOO sensitive.. i guess i just have to feel it for myself...

hmmm im not sure how hp directly relates to power, but doesnt more make it better? what difference does awd make? well i tried out the civic and it didnt feel strong enough.. maybe im just used to driving better cars :S

haha i guess u have a point with the gas thing.... prices are crazy its like 135 cents/litre wtf....

and how can u tell if a car has good or bad transmission (besides waiting for it to break down haha)?

btw.. i didnt brake in the turn and i was only going like 20 or so.... its like ice covered in snow type roads lol

hmm i guess ill reconsider my choice. what would u have to say about the altima 2.5s sedan?

sensitive steering probably means the power steering is probably too strong, so a slight turn of the wheel will make the tires turn sharply... this is different from understeer where the car fails to turn due to maximized grip + momentum... the suspension on that car is decent, but because the car is awd, it is a natural understeering vehicle...

more power is better, but again because ur car is awd, the drivetrain loss to HP is more significant than an fwd... numbers can go up to 45% drivetrain loss on an awd... usually bout 10-15% loss on a fwd... power isn't everything, learn to control the car b4 going up in power, ur slipping on snow in a civic... that pretty much sums it up...

research... do some... it helps... even if it's a new car... read about the potential problems, recalls, do your homework b4 u buy a car... that's how u know if the trannies are good or bad...

did u keep ur foot on the accelerator? not enuff to gain speed, but to keep it at a steady 20(i'm guessing kph)... coasting will also cause u to slip... i've slipped in rain going bout 10kph coasting... so on snow... it's very possible... snow tires is a must...

i'm not sure bout the altima... i haven't done much research, but i'm willing to be it's heavy... and i generally don't like driving heavy cars unless its like a truck or minivan... or something like that...
