Does any1 else hate the new MS Office interface? I can't find a lot of the features. The supposed logic behind this version is that the buttons, tabs and icons show the most frequently used icons, but what happen to all the rest? I wish that they would give the users the option to switch back to the older interface like they do with their OS. I am so tempted to uninstall 2007 and reinstall 2003.
the buttons can be opened by clicking on the office button, at the top left hand corner, then the options. There there is a section, where u can add buttons, but to the "Quick Access" toolbar which is located right next to the button....yea , i found this to be quite a common flaw to include from Microsoft...n yea - recommend 2003 by all means necessary
i actually didn't like it much at first but it's not that bad after a while it has more functions to use and is pretty good if u know how to use it well. u can save in 2007 as an 2003 file "save as" and u can choose the file extension to be compatible with 03
lol its easier to use but i use 2003 coz its easier at school since they dont have 2007, and plus , i pretty know 2003 inside and out
i didn't like it as first too..cos im not used to the position of all the functions since im so used to the 2003 version..but once u get the hang of it...no prob...u'll be enjoying all the new and improved functions
It was weird at first, had to find my functions, but as I start using it, it's nice. Excel 2007 got some nice features the 2003 version didn't. Like those links to formulas.
Yes, it has a better user interface, most noticeably in Word where there is live preview of size & fonts when cursor hovers over a style. However, i am abstaining from using 2007 becos uni still uses 2003 & the file formats aren't easy to transfer from comp to comp & ppl say (incl lecturers) they can't open .docx etc. But it looks cleaner & it does take some time to be fluent in using & finding all the functions.
no i think the new interface is great..... so much more you can do now than before... with ease and if you know the keyboard shortcuts its even more win for document writing anyways =\
After too many years of using key driven menus, I still use the keyboard keys (ie. fill series is Alt E, I, S) and am amazed they still support it... even with no actual menu there...
With Word 2007, you can save them as .doc, which can be opened with Word 2003. Though, there's some limits. if you use some special features of 2007, it might not be there if you save the file in .doc instead of .docx
I can't stand the new interface. I can't seem to find what I need. The first time I use office 2007, I could not even find the menu option. After a few try, I decide to go back to 2003 because of the .doc compatibility and menu
i hated it at first....but i've gotten used to it. But not all likes it...my work made the switch to 2007 and too many employees complained about it that they switched back to 2003
if ur on vista, i dont think you can use MS office 2003...anyways, it sucks how you cant use smart graphics on older versions of Office...luckily my school is upgrading soon. lol ________ Corsair
