I have a Core2Duo laptop with Vista Home Premium if that might help to help me.

Recently after a restart, Media Player decided not to play my music and my videos anymore. Then, Real Player stopped playing my music and all .avi files. I also notice that it couldn't load the media file and if I try to skip it to the middle, it plays it in slow motion without sound. Although, it still plays .rmvb files very well. Now, even Media Player Classic is acting sometimes. It doesn't show all the colors. It's almost black and white and you know how annoying that is not to have your media around to help you relax. I need to resolve this problem asap. Thanks!

    I use CCCP codecs, so I don't think it's a codec problem

I don't think it's a codec problem. It's down to the basics where I can't even play mp3 files. But I will try to reinstall the codec.

to be perfectly honest... i enjoyed using VLC aswell back in the day... the problems i've had with it came in the form of MKV/OGG files where multiple layers of subs were used and they overlapped... so i was like... whatever, if i'm gonna enjoy watching better quality files i might as well download the codecs for them... and cccp was just too good to be true... i used klite as well... but kinda didn't want to trust something named after kazaa =/

o... and don't download real media player... get Real Media Alternative ;)

Considering that VLC works magnificently and that its free, you really aren't in any position to complain about it.
