What a spectacular show; probably the best Olympic opener in history. People flying in the air, light suited dancers, a stadium ringed by LCD? Man, this show's gonna be hard to beat. Kudos to the PRC. Despite the cost (est $40 Billion USD) you can see that, visually, it was worth every yuan. -bigclap-bigclap-bigclap Ralph
it's not just the $$ n the special effects... it's the 5000 yrs of history behind it... it was AMAZING!!!!!

pretty cool but fell asleep when the countries started to come out. didnt even see my own country come out. damn them put AUS 3rd last.
it wasn't just people flying in the air... the man was running through the clouds, like chinese folklore... AMAZING!!! every stop, pulled... so very effing pround right now...
You should be able to find it on the US site, since you're in the US. Go here --> http://www.nbcolympics.com/
In the US, NBC is the official telecaster selected by the PRC and IOC for the event. So nose around their websites. They were talking on the program about recorded clips on just about everything related to the event. Tell me about it. Every country was in Chinese brush stroke order (and not alphabetic) so it was impossible to tell when a certain country would be marching in. And in some of those places they announced, I was like: "Huh? where da fuck is dat?" -huh eg: Vanuatu [1] [2] [3] [4] I guess in between dodging Lava and getting tanned, they have the time to field a team to the Olympics. Hey! Lava Dodging! Isn't that in this years events? LOL... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanuatu https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/nh.html Ralph
It was an excellent opening ceremony. Learnt a bit about China's history, and some of the awesome symbols/metaphors used were just beautiful. The only thing which sucked was the broadcasting; Bloody 7 put advertisements in it, so you would miss the opening of a change of scenes. Heard that it wasn't even broadcasted live in the US.. Gah, sometimes.. it's all about money
lol first hour was alright, then when all the countries came out, sigh so boring, lol took like 2 hours to announce them all,
lol, and we had some annoying MCs lol, just talk about crap while the countries were coming out, lol , they were like bagging countries too lol
i really liked the part where they lit up the torch. the guy was 'running' at the top of the stadium. it is really good.
LOL... You're right. Actually, I kept pressing on the same spot where the HK flag was previously as a matter of habit. And sometimes without my glasses on I don't really see the thing so well so I thought the whole time I was clicking on HK. Why them sneaky bastards at PA... Thanks for pointing it out to me otherwise, I never may have even noticed. Corrections made! LOL... Ralph
it was pretty amazing....watched it three times round....the live, and then the repeats....I watched it at work lol, we all stopped to watch it....EVEN the part where ALL da countries walked out....¬_¬ It was amazing, wish I could have been there in person, would've set me in tears at how beautiful it was ^^ x
