Olympic Opening Show

as proud as i m... i must admit when they lit up the big Olympic flame i liked the Sydney yr 2000 version better... i'll never forget Kathy Freeman lit up the torch n it looked like the fire was burning on water... but China has better performance!!!!!!!!

 

they did screwed up that bit though....but it was still good

 

i wouldn't call that a screw up... Syd was just too good for that particular part... who would've thought fire burning on water??

The opening ceremony was amazing, i have never seen one like it, yeah the other country puts effort in etc but nothing like this. From UK so had to watch it with the british commentators which kept making stupid remarks like 'yeah they wouldnt be showing how opium affected them' 'tibet' 'should have more protestors' etc which pissed me off, but in many yrs to come wen pple talk back about olympics, bet the 1st thing they will say is no country managed to top China's opening ceremony! Gona be embarassing to see wat UK does.

 

China kicks ass... hopefully china gets to host it again.

I loved the opening ceremony!!!! it's soooo spectacular. Zhang Yimou's concept is flawless.

 

OMG this was a great opening. It was very surprising about how 2008 people make a perfect circle. Also, i really like how the light up the olimpic torch this year

 

This is one of the best shows so far. China has really put all its damn things into it and just spare no effort and try to get the most out of it. U know when the next Olympic coming up, what do you guys expect from England?

The Ceremony was spectacular, other than that it was a genius to create the stadium similar to a bird's nest.

 

simply amazing. breathtaking. wish i was there but im happy watching on the BBC without any interruptions <3

 

Curiously, this winning idea (headed by Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron) was originally derided by Chinese design experts as being too extravagant or avant-garde, opting for the National Stadium to be more conservative or mainstream instead. -what?

different versions of opening ceremony

There are many dl versions. The BBC version was pretty good (with British accent of couse) but only first 90 min. The kidoor version was not HD and not very clear. There is an almost HD version but the video format somehow default to 4:3. and cause video picture distored. Fix it by using VLC media player and select 16:9 that it would look great.
