Its actually really sad. Some people go to a foreign country and all they do is work live and eat in Chinatown......
I love every bit of it. I don't get to go often enough -- the SF one is about 2 hours from me and there's no way I can handle driving around there. I love the smell, the people, the stores, the food. I enjoy the culture and it's a place where you can reflect on the history of people who immigrated for a BETTER OPPORTUNITY for their children. The sweatshops, the laundry and labor business, the restaurants... Many of us forget or ignore the history that come from Chinatowns. This was a community built so that fellow Chinese men and women and help each other out.
NOTHING can get worse as china town in adelaide (SA) . Some of the owners act like they own china town. My friend told, one guy who owned the dumpling store, proclaimed himself as " the local KING " lol. C mon, how pathetic is that.
Sydney's Chinatown isn't too bad actually. Kinda makes me feel nostalgic and just has a good atmosphere not that the place is THAT dirty or unclean. The food compensates for it with other large supermarkets surrounding it... i really like it there come to think of it.....sometimes the things you can't buy in normal shops or the things that you need to search hard for, you can buy in Chinatown. The imported goods are pretty good like the jap stuff etc.. and chinese CDs
yea chinatown does stink but i think people are kind of exaggerating thing i dont think china town is that bad the only thiing is all the birds on the telephone line you dont know when ot going to hit u
The Chinatown in Toronto is pretty stinky. But they do have great deals there and you get lots of groceries without having to break your wallet!
