I've never cooked prawns before, probably due to the fact i'm allergic to them - But i'm attempting to make a bento for my sister for work. I made one for the first time yesterday, it didn't turn out amazing and I want to practice. I can just defrost them, and leave them plain but I was wondering if anyone knows of something tasty to do to them? Any other tasty tips reguarding a bento would be welcomed also So far, i'm putting in these ingredients: Rice (obviously!) Noodles egg mushrooms prawns green beans pickled ginger soy furikake
lo, make sure u dont do anything funny to them like add too much or something, and make sure your there all the time, so it doesnt cook funny, like over cook
The best prawns to buy are green prawns – either fresh or frozen are fine. If you do buy them cooked don’t go for the frozen ones because once they’re thawed, they’re usually rubbery and tasteless.
when u prepare the prawns....remember to 'score' a line down the middle...to get rid of the shit and stuff... u can dip it into some (whisked egg) + some flour...an then deep fry it so it has a light batter over it... an then u can stir fry it with some salt, chili an pepper... or, u can cut the prawn almost in half....so its like a 'butterfly' an then again coat it in egg an breadcrumbs then fry it...so its got a crispy coating... u can serve it with some sweet chilli sauce, sweet an sour sauce or a piece of lemon...
Thank you twin bear ^__^ Too late I'd already cooked them for her and frozen was all we had :( But i'll know for next time! They don't sell them where I live :( Mmm that sounds good, and I don't even like prawns I think I may try the egg and breadcrumbs for next time, I think my sis will like that Thank you :] I had to make them last night so didn't see these posts, I ended up frying them only slightly in chilli, thai 7 spice and a little oil. She said they tasted yummy But she maybe lying ¬_¬
u can marinate them an make like prawn kebabs,,,, or again marinate it an then mash it up like a paste....spread it on a slice of bread...cover it with sesame seeds.....chill in tje freezer for a while an then deep fry it....voila...u got sesame prawn on toast...=]
lol...u can also use spring roll pastry an wrap up the prawn like so... u can serve it with some sweet n sour sauce/ sweet chili dip or just with a piece of lemon...
Im quite interested in making that prawn dipped in whisked egg and flour, but what I want to know is, how much eggs do you use, how much flour is used?
