I've never cooked prawns before, probably due to the fact i'm allergic to them - But i'm attempting to make a bento for my sister for work. I made one for the first time yesterday, it didn't turn out amazing and I want to practice.

I can just defrost them, and leave them plain but I was wondering if anyone knows of something tasty to do to them?

Any other tasty tips reguarding a bento would be welcomed also :p

So far, i'm putting in these ingredients:

    Rice (obviously!)
    Noodles
    egg
    mushrooms
    prawns
    green beans
    pickled ginger
    soy
    furikake

The best prawns to buy are green prawns – either fresh or frozen are fine. If you do buy them cooked don’t go for the frozen ones because once they’re thawed, they’re usually rubbery and tasteless.

when u prepare the prawns....remember to 'score' a line down the middle...to get rid of the shit and stuff...

u can dip it into some (whisked egg) + some flour...an then deep fry it so it has a light batter over it...
an then u can stir fry it with some salt, chili an pepper...

    or,
u can cut the prawn almost in half....so its like a 'butterfly' an then again coat it in egg an breadcrumbs then fry it...so its got a crispy coating...

u can serve it with some sweet chilli sauce, sweet an sour sauce or a piece of lemon...

They don't sell them where I live :(

Mmm that sounds good, and I don't even like prawns :p
I think I may try the egg and breadcrumbs for next time, I think my sis will like that

    Thank you :]

I had to make them last night so didn't see these posts, I ended up frying them only slightly in chilli, thai 7 spice and a little oil. She said they tasted yummy :p But she maybe lying ¬_¬

Im quite interested in making that prawn dipped in whisked egg and flour, but what I want to know is, how much eggs do you use, how much flour is used?
