I really hate my internet connection. Its meant to be 4MB. But it doesnt really reach up to it. I've noticed during the day I can download @ like ~1MB/s and upload @ 200KB/s using BT. But once it gets to like around 11pm the internet for some reason starts slowing down, the speeds of download drop to ~15KB/s and upload @ ~5KB/s. Its really hard to share my DDLs as it takes so long. Has anyone come across this scenario? EDIT: Just upgraded the service, its now a 20MB line, but it still has its slowless sometimes. But its been fine nonetheless
prolly cos every1 else in the neighbourhood is using it then? then they kill the bandwith available... plus if all ur basing it on is bt... kinda doesn't mean anything could just mean at that time, no1 wants to seed, they all shut off their machine except for 1 guy living across the otherside of the hemisphere...
it's daytime and i'm downloading like 60kb/s or something stupid hahaa, i've never really seen my d/l speed as high as 200 which sucks bcos i'm supposed to have a fast connection speed too! but it's weird cos my internet is faster during night
lol my net download wise is faster durring night.. goes at like 300-400kb/s for ddl =P But browsing speed seems constant whenever
love the net in japan... its soooooo fast =) but yeah... if its just bt ur referring to, it'll always change depending who's seeding and where they're from

well no cos its supposed to be quicker during the night after 11pm they say cos then it is off peak hours. anyways i agree with reno that if ur basing this on BT then its not reliable.
it could depend on ur isp.. if they offer a bigger dl llimit in offpeak hours that's when ppl will download.. they'll use up all bandwidth and it goes slower.. :(
But I thought if your using an internet line its just you only, Think about this we dont share ISP numbers so how can someone else kill the bandwidth? I dont just base this on BT, it also happens when im DDLing using megaupload and im a premmy user too. You should either complain too your service provider or switch provider, because I remember before my connection was even slow even though its broadband, after i complained gotten 2x faster. No one else is using the connection, its not behind a router its directly from a modem to my pc. my ISP is virgin media, broadband 4MB They dont have such a thing as limit or offpeak. But we the consumer are paying for a service which they are providing. If we pay for a certain amount then we should get a certain amount.
yes if u use the line its only U but along with U is everyone else that the line is connected to look at it this way the line is already split up to the isp and then to everyone else in the neigbhourhood all ur doing is just sharing the same cables its like the road... wen many ppl drive on the same road, u all end up slower wat we were saying with u to tell other ppl to stop using, is not in ur house/property ur neighbours!! it does make a difference, and a BIG one wat did they "guarantee" u as service if u go to a proper site that does a speed test u'll notice nice numbers once it goes outside of that, wat it die horribly at home im on 10mb realistically u won't get anything more than 150kb/s unless u dl within the isp region stuff normal stuff on bt ranges between 1kb and 150 here in jap, ddl gets like 1.5mb/s =D then at work, they had a direct line that was uploading at like couple hundred mb/s
is it possible yo ass got capped during peak hours? thats what they do over here in canada to kill the competition leased under their lines.

Get ur IP adress on www.danasoft.com they tell u ur ip adress and then copy it into the adress bar and change teh settings .. in ur internet . if that dont work CALL UR SERVICE PROVIDER and SECURE IT !
thing is if you really odnt like the speed at night try calling the company, and complain about it and they mght upgrade your net and also you might some money back while at it but yeah i agree with reno you cant really base it on BT
they won't secure ur IP thats for sure... they keep changing it, and its normal unless u pay premium for static ips megaupload... well depends on ur location and where the file is stored i get like 30/kbs from MU... and then if im in japan, i get like 1.5mb/s its all about location... and of course, if u pay for accounts on MU etc you're more likely to get faster speeds otherwise, read up on networks and how they work and maybe u'll understand better how everything is =)
i have also came to the conclusion that it is most likely your neighbors are using the internet at later hours as well..... tying up the line, that is just how it works....
well MU varies all the time for me anyway when i'm in the same location. i think it depends on how many ppl are getting a file and using their server at once but then again i can't complain as i'm not a premium user. @gawain i think they may have capped ur speed. it is virgin we are talking about and they do have a fair usage policy. so it could be very likely that they capped ur speed. then again it does depend on how fast ur getting the internet. if it is ridiculously slow then something is wrong but if not chances are they could have capped it. i don't think it has something to do with users as virgin is cable.
