I think Phelps is a bit overrated. It's great that he broke the record with 8 gold, but still... He's given more chance to win a lot of medals just because he's a swimming. Athletes like Lebron and Nastia Liukin could only win a few of the gold, and if you have great endurance, there's a heck a lot more of margin for errors than most sports. Phelps is impressive no doubt, but career-wise, I don't think he's as impressive as someone like Nikolai Andrianov or Larysa Latynina.

I heard from people that liu xiang.....pulled out coz of all the pressure...
And last time he won was a 'one-off' so he knew he couldnt do it...so he
rather pull out then lose face or something..?!?!....is this true..?!..

  9. isn't it obvious he's been injured for awhile? there were rumours of his injury months before the olympics as he's pulled out from races , i guess he was working hard to heal but couldn't in time so if anything but the olympics in beijing he wouldn't have even shown up for the run.

You have to understand how much pressure he has on himself , he would still show up even if he had a cast in both his legs.

im not suprised a rumour like that would come from bitter fans or haters

race stats for anyone who thinks he's scared , world champion!

Very doubtful; he's been reportedly running at new world record times during training sessions. He's also had a very long history of injuries, and one was starting to act up just before the event. He was courageous enough to go up to the wire despite being in pain, probably hoping that it wouldn't matter. But when he finally realized that he couldn't do it, rather than embarrass his nation by running badly, he instead withdrew.

And this was in front of more than a billion people who had high expectations for him. Pulled out because of pressure? No, he stayed in despite the pressure, and when it came to either running badly versus not running at all, he took the smart choice. My hat's off to the man.

well due to pressure or not, he wouldn't be able to run in this year Olympic anymore. as a fan, lets just hope he has a full recovery and nothing too serious

so do you guys believe in the chinese he kexin in gettin the gold medal over the us? The US seem to be making a big fuss over it and if it was the other way around they definitely just shrug it off and say better luck next time....

Buncha immature and sore losers espically NBC , one of the most biased tv station dedicated to national pride in every sporting event. White America needs to wake up and smell the coffee. China is emerging and has been for a long time and this is where everyone gets a slap of reality.

i didnt watch the performance but heard the chinese girl didn't land perfectly , my guess is she performed a harder routine combined with her other averages so scores evened out or maybe got better. I'm sure this is how it was but u know sore losers and the general public *ahem america* wouldn't be smart enough to think like this. If they both performed the same routines and the chinese girl messed while the other didn't then may i eat my own words.

lol yea it was the big thing... it was because they got the same score lol. but nbc sure are nastia fanboys lol, even if she got a lower score i think they will still bitch about it. but the tie breaker thing is definitely unfair since they take out the lower scores and shit. and yea the chinese girl and nastia both supposedly did something wrong on the bars but nastia nailed the landing. although i would say the chinese girl did better releases that might have increased her average, they both had the same difficulty though. they guy i hate the most is the european guy who comments after the matches...it's all ok as long as the chinese don't win for him. he is so motherfucking biased haha... damn i can't believe i missed that sacramone controversy match lol, but i think every body feels sorry for the chinese 20 year old though, she seems to lost her touch. sacramone isn't that much better also.

NBC was very biased, I saw the rerun yesterday and all they could say about He Kexin's routine was all the mistakes she got and how Nastia didn't do so many mistakes. They even started talking about how the judges were bias and wasn't really doing a good job since most of them are from countries that don't get any medals in the sport. I think the reason He Kexin won was because the routine seems harder than Nastia's routine even though they were the same value.

That Karolyi guy is very biased also, since his wife is the Coach for the USA. Everytime USA loses to China in gymnastics, he always have something bad to say about China. I think he was the person that started all the controversy about China's female gymnast being too young. It's like a soreloser's rant.

but yeh, i read it from yahoo as well...apparently i agree

"If USA wins, we totally deserved it, If any other wins, they must've cheated or stole it from us"

totally sore losers, you know pretend USA wins ALL of the gymnastics gold, would age matter anymore?

not only that, Cheng Fei's routine was much harder than the other one imo, thats why she got bronze and not the US, besides her 2nd vault routine already got around 1+ pt taken off already, her 1st vault was a 16.?? something and her 2nd vault was still a low 15...of course its gonna avg over 15.5.

Do people realize why China's math is better than Americans now -.-

lol that's his name....yea the guy is a bitch really. anyone have the video of the sacramone controversy.... well and yea he kexin's release skills were definitely harder and more exciting than nastia's. her routine seemed very repetitive and dull. for americans i still think shawn johnson> nastia cause her routines are better, heard she won her first gold today! and oh yea luckily the critics were silenced when yang wei dominated the competition in the all around, that guy owned.

I think for the Sacramone Controversy was that they believed that the judges didn't deduct enough points from Cheng Fei's 2nd Vault, when she fell on her knees, which means that she should have gotten 4th instead of winning Sacramone by .03 points for Bronze.
