I have searched around forum but couldn't find anything on this. Im trying to find some really scary films so what im asking is What do you think is the most scariest film? Like one that has given you nightmares, made you wet yourself, given you the worst shock?

I have seen quite a lot of scary films but i don't find them scary. The last horror film I had watched was The grudge 2 Japanese version which wasnt so scary. So what can you recommend thats highly likely to give the creeps.

i remember the Japanese version of Ju-On: The Grudge, not the crappy American version. watched it with flatmates in Uni and it scared the crap out of us and couldnt sleep at all, or tried to but with the lights on. but Ju-On dont scare you, so i dont know whats scarier then that >.<

Well Exocisit is the first film that comes into mind, meant to be the scariest film, but i thought it was well funny lol (When she possess and comes down the stairs)

Personally i dont really get scared from most scary films, as most are just gruesome rather scarier these days, but one of the best i seen was chucky, but that might be due to how young i was when i watched it

What we need is more psychological horror as opposed to all these blood and gore films that really do lack any real substance for them.
    e.g. The Others

yeah your exactly right about that

The Ring (Hollywood) was so scary that as soon as the girl grabbed the main character's arm I started playing on my cellphone and staring down from the screen for the rest of the movie...

how about the the really old classic the house that god forgot.or Carrie, perhaps haunted hill.but i found this awesome list from a blog:

    1. Shaun of the Dead - one of the top funny horror movies.
    2. 28 Days Later - the haunting image of a zombie infested London England.
    3. The Exorcist - one of the best ever made
    4. Dawn of the Dead - the remake of the classic begins with a Johnny Cash song that makes your blood run cold
    5. The Birds - definate Hitchcock Classic. See the original!
    6. The Thing - the remake with Kurt Russel. This movie gave me nightmares when i saw it .. um.. in 1982.
    7. The Shining - On TV at least 3 times a year. Jack Nicholson is not half as scary as his underfed wife.
    8. Nosferatu - 1922. Silent film. Another not to be missed movie.
    9. Near Dark - oh so good fun. Bill Paxton rocks. A vampire Western... gotta love it.. it is so 80s. fun. Looks a bit dated, but you can tell these people LOVED making this film. And the new 2nd disk has a great featurette with very funny stuff from the actors.
    10. Hellraiser - Pinhead scares the dead to death
    11. Ginger Snaps - werewolves! not that scary but darned good. Not a huge special FX budget but it works. I love the opening - one of the funniest I've seen in ages. If you are a woman.. you will appreciate this even more
    12. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari - silent film - one of the first horror movies from 1921
    13. Frailty - though I'm not sure if it qualifies as horror.. but damn. Bill Paxton. its got Demons. And Bill. You go boy! Good movie... bit slow at times but good. One of the ones people seem to miss
    14. Bride of Frankenstien and Frankenstein. Come on .. Boris Karloff! and the Brides hair.. whee!
    15. Night of the Living Dead - such a classic! Zombies!
    16. Psycho - 1960 - version with Janet Leigh a horror film of a young man tormented by his past-- and his mother
    17. The Hitcher - another old movie that most likely will not scare me now but did when I first saw it. Some truely beautiful scenes.
    18. Suspira - an Italian classic tale of Witches. Expect some classic 70s effects (bad!). :)
    19. Pumpkinhead - really badly funny. might not get around to it. Lance Henrikson too. Skinny, creepy Lance.
    20. Videodrome - another older one from the 80s. james Woods. David Cronenberg.
    21. Scream - gotta list a Wes Craven movie. And having seen Scary Movie recently it will be twice as funny. never made me jump but its in a way a bit of a classic from the 90s. And did you know that the original Working Title for Scream was Scary Movie? snerk. Its fun.
    22. Invasion of the Body Snatchers -its got Pod People! .. not Ipod's either
    23. Evil Dead - oh funny - Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell .. what more can i say? makes me giggle.
    24. Dead Zone - the movie, not the series :D
    25. Polergeist - an oldie but classic. With all the new condos being built.. something has to give.
    26. Rosemary's Baby - surprisingly good even despite its age.
    27. Village of the Damned - 1960's version not the one by Carpenter. I love John Wyndom books.
    28. Carrie - gotta add some King into the mix
    29. Re-animator - just weird. weird weird and horrific too.
    30. Dracula - pick a version. There's about 101. The best are much older versions.
    31. Saw - the first one. Bit too sick for my taste but it is a freaky little thing
    32. Halloween - to be watched on Halloween of course :D
