hi all, i gota write a personal statement cos i need it to apply for Universities etc.. but i dont know what to put on it....what the structure is like? i'm clueless about the whole thing.... and i dont really know what i wana do in Uni yet-sweat so any help would be appreciative... Thanks in advance, Phoenix x
ummm is this the personal statement on a UCAS app?? I did one back in the days, but lol i cant remember the format, but all i can remember was it was cheesy.... its generally about why you want to do that course/uni, what are your motivations etc, and a tiny bit about your personal life (hobbies, interests, etc) if you dont really wana know what you wana do in uni, then i suggest maybe taking some time to speak to someone or thinking on your own about what you want to do! You'll regret just choosing a course for the sake of it and not liking it, do a course you have a genuine interest in! if you still dunno, maybe a gap year? however im sure your tutor or careers adviser can help you! or google!!
yep...its the personal statement for the UCAS... um i got 2 courses...that i'd like to do/interested in....but if i talk about both...it wont be as effective.....
ok that makes it harder.... are the subjects similar in anyway, you could try to keep it vague-ish, but that wont be as good I guess you could talk about your interest in both subjects, in separate paragraphs. its a shame UCAS doesnt do multiple statements so you can aim at each individual uni if you really wanted to, im sure you can apply to the unis not via UCAS, thus being able to tailor your application to each uni, but thats just long....
yeh... my subjects arent really similar at all! one's language and the other's health/psychology...so i'm like stuck =X
i helped KT write a letter once, but she said it was more of a personal statement than a letter.... my efforts were wasted -cry2
ahhh ucas statements hmmm did this not too long ago xD hmmm this makes it kind of difficult both subjects are very different. you can always go down the route of writing without mentioning the topic you are actually going to study... ok topics to write... why you picked your particular subjects... the 'good' student you are =P include any extra curricular activities that you do... thats all the help i can offer... apologise if i was no use >__< PS dont be too honest ^___^
lol...i know i might have to 'lie' abit xD is it in that particular order? an also....i know there's limit to how i can write..is it about 47lines?
there is a limit, cant remember it though.... surely your school is teaching you how to write this????? like a cover letter, just like when you apply for a job or something
MEBE SHE WANTS TO BE ON TOP OF THE GAME AND GET IT DONE BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE....HAHAHA...-smart.... DUN WORRY EVERYONE LIES IN IT...!!!..... NO SPECIAL ORDER...JUST MAKE IT FLOW.... UMM...I THINK ITS A WORD COUNT NOT LINES....BUT CANT QUITE REMEMBER... TRY NOT TO WORRY TO MUCH ABOUT IT...YOUR TEACHERS WILL GUIDE YOU THROUGH....THE UCAS PROCESS...^^
Over here, Canada, we have to write a Personal Statement of Experience for Queens. Anyways, just try to make yourself sound mature and stuff. As well, I think everyone lies just don't lie about stuff that they can disprove. I would personally find a English tutor to help you write the thing.
I think you should first pick the subject you want to do and then stick with it. You can't do two subjects in uni, well unless you do a combined degree, but you still have to pick a subject to Major in,, so first think about which subject you would like to major in then write your personal statment based on that
i think i'm just guna write about my hobbies etc first and then do more research on my courses and then put it in....
lucky you. what do u mean everybody lies in it, i didn't lie in mine but that was cos i didn't need to lol. i had too much stuff to write and so little space. yea just think of the subject u want to do most and apply for both. i think writing a personal statement about health would be good though it would be quite hard for u as the subjects are so different. then again i applied for accounting and finance with a personal statement for medicine and still got in and was given an offer lower than the norm. lol. got my offer like 3 weeks after i sent off my personal statement for medicine lol. then again i think thats cos my medicine personal statement showed that i was a rounded person and also cos my results were gd.
coulda just said cover letter... lol done like a zillion of those hahaha its also kinda like objectives in a cv/resume or when u apply for skolarships ahh the joys of doing those~ just remember to make ur one stand out from the others!!
ahh personal statement!! i've just done my second draft.. lol keep checking it with different ppl as well....like different teachers. need many opinions from them.. and yeh, you gotta stand out and kinda like.. sell urself in it LOL maximum is 4000 characters with spaces included or something. -you need a catchy opening. why you wanna study that in uni -what is so good about subject/career you wanna do at uni. -what interests you in particular -work experience [VITAL]- what it was like, what you learnt, what you did -other things you have seen or done or whatever which are like related to what you wanna do -you can talk about your subjects and what skills you have gained from them- you know like.. analytical skills.. problem solving skills etc etc.. and that these skills are needed for what you wanna do. -show your personality in this personal statemenet as well. -extra curricular activities ..that can maybe show team work and commitment?.. or leadership skills. and ending paragraph .. about looking forward to going to uni..and your future plans?? if you get interviews... you will be asked questions about your personal statement. they will ask for more detail about the things you wrote... hope this helped
