Well, that all depends on the reasons for your preference. If you find Asian girls to be physically unattractive simply because they're Asian, then you would have a hard time defending the idea. But on the other hand, if you prefer dating outside of your race because you find non Asians more alluring, then that's not an issue. It's a fine line between racism and preference. As for being a sellout or not, only you can decide that. If you feel comfortable doing what you're doing and you're not hurting anyone, then there really shouldn't be an issue. But I get the sense that you're asking because there's a load of guilt in there somewhere. If so, you have to ask yourself if it's worth it to do so (for your emotional fulfillment) or to not do so (for your moral or ethical conscience), what is more important? Yeah I know this is the classic Id v Super Ego argument here. Only your ego can decide what is right. -unsure
its about preference..... WTF do u mean ppl dont respect asians? and that is the reason y u wouldn't go out with asians? y u care so much about wat ppl...just live ur life...ur wack
what???? who cares what others think. its your own opinion that matters and whether you're happy with what you're doing. if you think you dont like asians because people dont respect Asians, then what the hell??? I prefer Asians because I feel more comfortable and find them more attractive, i dont care what others think of Asian people.
Let me see if I'm understanding exactly what you're saying; You purposely date non-Asians because: [1] Since people don't respect Asians, you purposely date non Asians so that you can show people (that don't know any better) how cool Asians really are, or at least give them a taste of all the good shit that they're missing out on... [2] Since people don't respect Asians, you won't be caught dead with one either; lest they sully your personal image... Which of the above is more of what you mean?
ralphreo you are a wise man. 1 is the answer. Its just like when i was in the Army Rangers. I beat down anyone that disrespect me. It wasn't for any personal gratification. It was for the poor asian that ended up in Idaho,Illinois,Ohio. You have to understand alot of these guys that were in the Army were from these places. They're Football players, jocks, and they were use to picking on asian kids that were smaller than them, and coudlnt defend themselves. When i was new to my unit. A senior ranger once called me into his room and tried to get me to clean his toilet. Thats the worse thing you could make a Chinese Man do. I didnt do it so they threathren me with, disobeying a lawful orders, and to kick my ass. What I did was knocked the biggest one and focus on him, while the rest of them jumped me. After it was over i was the one who got in trouble, and demoted, for assault on a NCO. After that day people knew not to try to degrade me. I even became friends with some of them afterwards. That's how I know why they try to pick on me. To them it was like being back in High School.
It was also during my time in the Army was when i had my first GF who wasn't asian. In the begining she was like a trophy to me. I would call my friends back home and tell them about my accomplishment. But after I started dating white, latino, and black girls something occured to me. All these girls were all really into Asian culture. They would, talk about Anime,Andy Lau, Rain,Lee Hom. I was like who the hell is Lee Hom? They all talked about how beautiful the story line in the Asian Love series were, and how they believe in true love. These girls were asian at heart. Tell me how many of you have friends that are reall into our culture? All asian girls know, are LV,Gucci,Drinkin,Ed Ahrdy, 7jeans, Girls trip to Vegas,Tahoe. They try to be so western. So now I'm married to a latino woman, but feel somewhat like a sellout, because I love Asia too much man!
if the girl is into you and you are into her it doesn't matter what race or culture you two are from....
Bush Beater, eh? I was 95B in 75-79, back when they still had jeeps, LOL... FRG for three, then CONUS for the remainder. Thought about re-up but found a job instead. With your MOS, you're lucky they didn't involuntarily extend you. At the beginning of Gulf2 I was reading in the NYTimes that they were recalling guys (like me) who were already in their 50's and 60's but had critically needed skill sets. Me and about three other guys at the job kept asking each other "did you get your letter yet?" (meaning letter from Uncle Sam for reactivation). LOL...
Yea, I wanted to go sniper. But , due to my NJP. I couldn't try out for the indoc. I did get a letter. But i never showed up to the irr drill. =) Was your experience the same as mines back when you was in? Probably was worse. There's maybe a little bit more Asian's now than before.
Why do you even care what others think about the race of the person u are dating. If u like an asian, african or whatever just go for it. Also what do you mean when you say that people people don't respect asian people. Doubt you have any proof to back that up. Besides, what are your reasons for dating a girl? To show off to others? or because you are interested in that person?
Well, you're lucky it was only non-judicial, because there are things in the UCMJ that they could have chosen to really put you into a lot of legal pain (bad conduct dc, lost of money and rank). And yeah, the combat marksmenship school has always been rather selective; an art15 in your file will usually take you off the list. As for your other question, actually, I was rather lucky as I really didn't encounter any hostile racism per se, just a lot of the good ole boy ignorance instead (like thinking that Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, et cetera, are all the same). There was an American Samoan guy in my unit, and a Japanese dude in HQ Co. We were the only Asians in a post of about 1000 personnel. I remember first going in country and getting the regular race relations class indoctrinations which basically spelled out that they didn't give a shit if soldiers didn't like each other, but if they couldn't work together, then both would go to jail, so it was rather simple. Plus the fact that we were an MP unit probably helped. Cops generally tend to keep on the right side of the law over those in a grunt unit. :ugh2: Over the course of my life I do recall talking to some Asian Viet Nam vets and their experience was the worst. Interestingly, most of those guys that I've met have told me that the only ones who ever stuck up for them were the black guys.
It was a battalion NJP. So, i did lose rank, and pay. They did threaten to court martial me. If they did I would have hit the BC with a chair to make it worth it. I don't regret a thing though.
LOL... Well, it's pretty obvious that you don't take shit from no one, but I would definitely hesitate at launching a chair in the direction of any O4, BC or not. I know it's probably all water under the bridge now, but didn't they have some sort of equal opportunity or race relations officer that you could have gone to? Seems a shame to have to suffer a loss of pay grade and, what? 90 days pay? (at least that's what it used to be) for a bunch of barracks dirt bags.
