Hey guys, well it's been a couple months now. I've asked some more people for advice, including a classmate who's half Japanese. He told me that Asian girls at my school care more about personality. I beg to differ. On my last day in Genetics class, I overheard a Vietnamese classmate say that she would much rather date a man with a nice personality instead of a man who looks good and treats people like crap. She finds my interest in her culture interesting and was showing me Vietnamese music artists and models on her Ipod Touch. She told me that if I go to Vietnam I can easily find a bride who wants a green card, and could even find a woman who wants a relationship if I look hard enough. I doubt that I'll end up doing that, but it's good to know that she has hope for me. Anyways, later that day another classmate, who is a tall muscular White guy who is in ROTC asked another Asian girl to say "Me love you long time. 5 dolla." She agreed and did so, out of intimidation, I think. He kept laughing and asking her to repeat herself. The Vietnamese girl who runs Asian Club club said, "You better stop, you're pissing Sean off." He was too, but he insisted that he was just teasing. Racism is not teasing, it's bullying. I said some stuff out of line I suppose, like "Yeah, he is pissing me off, but it's not like my opinion matters." and "You guys will let him do whatever he wants because he's tall and muscular." That was rude and offended some people. She told me, "Sean, you would probably be much happier if you didn't take everything in life so seriously." She's just trying to help, and she's right too. I still find it horriffic that she didn't take any offense to racism, I'm not sure why she didn't. Well ever since the second term ended, I've had limited contact with classmates from Genetics. The other day she came to my locker before school and asked if I wanted to donate blood in the upcoming blood drive. I had already said no when another student asked, but I told her I would. I noticed another Vietnamese girl giving her a weird look when she saw her talking to me. She handed me a sign up sheet, and I turned it in the next day. A couple weeks before that, I needed help with a school newspaper article, and the girl who showed me Vietnamese music videos agreed to help me by being in my article and being in pictures for it. I doubt that any Asian girl at my school will ever date me before I graduate, but it's good to know that they accept me for who I'm and are willing to give me advice and help. Just thought I would tell you guys how things are going.
