After watching ep1, first thing that hit me was the amazing sceneries and costumes. So far the first plot is getting interesting, ancient detective work.
well, i guess raymond lam is pretty the much the overall main character in this....and that's a good thing because im a fan of his. Most of his series are pretty interesting.
all those backgrounds and streets are the same from the past...........that garden, those streets, Lol.
A BIG improvement from the most recent Chinese Ancient drama (Legend of the Demigods), but hey thats not hard to beat i know lol Looks promising though, bit early to judge atm
The series started off OK, but then again; The Wheel Chair during the Northern Song dynasty (c AD900-1100's), was probably not as modern as the one depicted. Chinese "wheelchairs" at the time were closer in appearance to wheelbarrows with a platform for the cripple or sickly person. What about handicap access; did all the ancient palaces have wheelchair ramps and handicap lifts? While the idea of highlighting handicap rights is a laudable media issue, to use this ancient story as a vehicle does both the story and the issue a disservice. But I digress, having any main and dynamic character portrayed as a cripple is not a great start. It's tough in modern stories, and really a stretch when placed into a period piece like this. Aside from that, the natural settings are extraordinary and really gives the viewer an appreciation for the natural beauty of China, and you can almost get the sense that you're looking though a live version of an ancient scroll painting. The indoor sets are average TVB fare, not too shabby but nothing to win any awards, ditto with the lighting. Costumes are average, but after seeing the portrayal of Tang styled outfits in the Olympics Opener, I may have been forever spoiled, LOL... But, so far it seems like a good story. Cast is able, with the expendable characters being gotten rid of very quickly it seems. Look forward to seeing the rest.
I thoguht it was prettyy good. It was only the first ep but i felt the thriller already. Enjoying it so far
