basically i have the shock wave updater icon which wont go away on my task bar, this icon is next to the time and it does not do anything when i click on it or when i search for it on my processes in my windows task manager. i have googled this problem tons and it seems that many people have the same problem only that they can find postupdate.exe in the windows system 32 macromb file bit. whereas in my case i only have the shovewave help, and it is not even an exe. file. im pretty sure that this unwanted shockwave updater icon is a malware and i have tried many ways to get rid of it but none of it work. i have tried using the run program and opening msconfig and disabling ctfmon.exe only to find that it doesnt stop windows shockwave updater from running and the icon still stays there. also i am unable to delete shockwave help which is in the macromb file. it says that another program is using it, i am also unable to uninstall winzip via add/remove program. help needed, its messing up my computer and cant do anything coursework on it. is there anyway to get rid of this malware without have to format my C drive?! tons of thanks in advance 8)
click on "Start" > "Run" > type in "msconfig" > click on the tab "Start Up" > unselect whatever that is related to shockwave
