The problem here is that most men, especially young boys, don't understand that this is girl-speak for trying to be non confrontational. Girls will pick innocuous neutral type statements and assign responsibility to some external or extrinsic factor as reasoning for not being involved in a relationship with someone. That is, they tend to say shit like: "the reason why I can't ever go out with you is because 'it was predicted that I would marry royalty...' " or "because 'today is Tuesday...' " or whatever, et cetera. By assigning or making the rationale into something that they cannot personally control, they hope to avoid being responsible for it; hence removing the possibility of being confronted for making that decision; ie. it's not my fault. This is akin to the "Dog ate my homework" argument between teacher and student. -innocent2

But, what the girl really wants to say is "I don't like you, asshole, so get lost."

Boys, especially immature ones with tunnel vision focus on only their own needs, tend to play by computer game rules. That is, they're interpret messages straight forward for their objective and literal values rather than the subjective message behind the meaningless words. A literal printed text of what girls "mean" may look something like this: No, because yada yada, yada yada yada, yada yada, yada yada yada.

ie. the only thing that has meaning is the NO. The rest is just avoidance fluff.

An analogy to this would be if you get a computer crash BSOD while attempting to do something on your computer. It really doesn't matter what the BSOD message says, the computer meant "no, I'm not letting you."No amount of analyzing is going to change anything. -noclue

I know this might sound stupid but if you want to start dating her you got to change how she feels about you. She feels like your her little bro or just a friend to hang around with. It seems like you are really good friends with her and against what many people might say---I'll most likely get flamed for this-- that women often look for people with confidence (unfortunately the US already portrays asian guys as goofy, weak and/or abusive), people that can create the moment and not by just talking or being friends. You can't talk someone into dating you. She got to see that you can hold your own and be an alpha and not a beta. I'm not saying you should go start a fight with someone but just be yourself and a create moments that you can tap into her that words can't decribe. You don't have to be a showoff or anything. some relationships are means to only be at the friend level while others will progress to the next level...what i've learned is that you can't go into meeting a girl saying you want to be her friend because if you do you'll get stuck in the friend bucket and its very hard to crawl out of that.

I think the issue is that people don't have enough confidence in themselves. When you have ask if you can date someone and you are not sure how she is going to answer. A bad sigh right off the bat. I've just saying have a good time with girls out there and find out which one you click with then date that one and enjoy it. I agree with a lot of people here, is that if she doesn't want to date you go hang out with other girls. For whatever you do, don't act like a fool or be goofy to get attention. Just strike some good conversation with the girl you like and her friends but also get along with the guys. Develop good social skills and you will be all set. I believe women like confident and secure men. If you noticed a girl got nice cheekbones, smile or personality etc. let her know and don't be shy about it and also talk with other women your just making friends. have fun your young.
