Hey guys, recently ive bought a ps3 and im trying to hook it up to my PC monitor. I connected my ps3 to the monitor through HDMI to DVI. Graphics and Resolution looks perfect and good but the problem is there is no sounds. If this helps, my monitor is a Acer X222W, it is connected to my PC through VGA and PS3 through DVI (Converts to HDMI) thanks in advance
ehh... i'm pretty sure acer has no built in speaker right..? go buy yourself a set of speaker for better sound anyways-.-
get a set of speakers with optical input and then run an optical wire from the Ps3 to that setup as far as i know DVI can't carry sound
that is the reason why you don't have sound-.- acer don't have speaker :laugh2:, when you have a set of speakers, hook it up some how if you know how.. :laugh2: and then configure it in the settings on PS3 :laugh2: if you know how -unsure
yeah just did some research... basic DVI-D will not carry sound, you need to hook up the sound via coaxal or optical. DVI-I can transmit sound, but it requires some manipulating to do. As it stands, you HDMI - DVI setup is not gonna get you any tunes
the ps3 has AV multi output, so isn't that the same as the ps2 one? if so, grab one of those, which is an AV multi output to rca component (red, yellow, white). use the red and yellow, if you have a receiver, plug it in, or the adapter to stereo, which would fit your headphone jacks. the question is, is it possible for hdmi and AV multi output to out simultaneously? and i have acer X223W =P
the dvi ports don't have any sound channels so even though the HDMI has sound channels you won't get them to work on the monitor. You are going to ahve to find a way to get the audio to pass out from the PS3...i think what dann is saying might work...i haven't tried it but there is also a setting on the PS3 that tells it which component is pushing video out. So just remember to set the system on HDMI for picture and i think the RCA cables should be good for pushing the audio out or i where you i'd get rid of the acer and get a http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-7345 i've seen them as low as $260 shipped (during their monitor sales) and they have an HDMI port and you can get speaker attachments for 20 bucks that sound decent
if u have a receiver you could hook up a optical cable to the receiver if not your going to have to use rca cables...
cheapest way to do this... use the connector, forgot what it's called. just go to settings and for the sound, set it to the av multi, and for the display set it to the hdmi. i'm doing the same thing lol. something like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103713 i think i got this one, 5 bucks and you can hook up any speaker to the ps3 unless it's really cheap and don't have an output slot.
i think i might try all of the mentioned above...they all sound reasonable cept i really dont wanna waste another 200 bucks to buy a new LCD monitor -.-
lol but buying another lcd monitor would yield the same result ahhhaa, we don't want "another rth" on PA right now :rolleyes2: one of each is enoughheadbang2
^lol you coulda got one when the offered the 100 dollar gift card with the 80gb and then if you applied for the sony card you could've got another 150 dollar gift card lol...
