here the spec for a start
    bought from comet LOL
    AMD 4200x2
2gb ram geil (upgraded in feb) was 1gb
    7600gs gfx

(pc is about 2 years old)

my bro pc suddenly crashed playing on css (i must say my bro is a hardcore gaming he plays for hours) he trys restarting it but still it wont work i took a look at it and when it does starts up the windows xp loading logo screen is all messed up with funny colours, so therefore i did a reformat and still it wont, after the messed up xp logo screen its gets a blue screen of death like for a second and just restarts itself. basically it just wont start any more

    any ideas ladies n gents?

tbh i think he blown his CPU or GFX, i doubt its the ram cos its pretty new-ish

1 - restart your pc adn press F8 ( or whatever your computer says - bofore loading windows)
2 - Use arrow keys and you find Last Known Good Configuration then press enter

If this does not work repeat step 1 and change boot from cd-rom
    do a reinstall of OS

He already did a reformat, so I don't think this is going to help anymore. He should have done that before reformatting.

What you can do though is to disable automatic restart in the F8 screen and see if the Blue Screen of Dead (BSOD) shows the module it is crashing on. Then see if you can get any additional info about that module on Google.

I am assuming that you did perform a fresh installation of Windows after the reformat and also that you installed all the proper hardware drivers.

Sounds like a dead card. Remove the card and use onboard video. If that works than it's the card for sure.

  6. yepp pull the card out put it back in and if that doesn't work do the same for all other parts of the computer and remove the cmos battery then back in and try again

from the description, i am pretty sure your graphic card just went boom...
if it's still under warranty, go and claim it, if not, you would need to buy new one(or use on board graphic which most of the time cannot render games)

For 5 he can upgrade to pci-e system. gtx260 core 216 some ram mobo and e8400. Might have to be a budget board and ram. Decent upgrade.

  20. wouldn't it then be equal pricing then with the current economy? lol
