    Steelies ftw!

Your running low profile winters on that? haha

Yah, for sure. I'll let you know if I have any questions.

I'll post my set up and what I have planned for next year tommorow when I'm not lazy. lol.

  2. good question. not too sure. but pretty light when i held it. that doesn't mean much. lol

does your tsx nextmod friend have a huge tsx logo below the environment controls?

and yea, somewhat low profile.. they're on 17's

I dont know about that, but his car's been re badged to a Honda Accord in Japan, not a TSX.

Looks like gordons got a ballin rhd planned out. -tongue2

I swapped over a JDM H22A Type S motor with a T2W2 5 Spd LSD tranny in my DD right now for winter and occasionl track. Dont have money for 2 cars. lol.-lol

I'm saving up now to build the motor for NA. For some reason, I don't want boost on this car. My next car's probably gonna be boosted but not this one. This one's gonna be naturally aspirated. Engine internals I havn't decided on yet. I still need to do alot of research out there on the engine parts. Maybe a rear bbk if I have money left. I pretty much have everything already, seats, wheel, hood. Meh, lets see what else inspires me. To early right now, it's not even winter and i'm sleepy. hhahaa.

how so? 18k is the bare minimum. For a clean R32 GTR with a healthy 26 is 15k, with some extra goodies and the JDM tax, it's 18k.
plus tax of course. so 21-22k is a right budget for me. after tax.

ur getting it shipped in modded or bone stock? cuz neway u slice it, if ur doing the mods urself i still find it a bit hard to get all the parts + car + shipping/taxes/etc... to come out to 18k =/

btw... those are cad numbers right? o_O

K I feel like sharing what I have in mind. Feel free to comment and suggest things ( and increase budget i.e. discourage me:sp_ike_d: )

If you go on Yahoo auctions Japan or to the Yokohama or Tokyo USS Auto Auctions, there are quite a few non-GTR R32 for sale. It comes in a wide array of conditions, mods, years, trims, etc. It is always suggested to go through a local broker. I personally know a few so the brokerage fees aren't outrageous.

They come in a wide array of conditions.
-Grade 5 is a museum condition, or should I say brand new in box. Rarely will cars be in this grade.

-Grade 4.5 is in superb condition. Rarely are they modified and they are damn expensive even for a bone stock non-turbo R32 GTS.

-Grade 4 is usually where you will find those mint cars in an affordable price range. A GTR in grade 4 ( bone stock) will go for a good 15k. They usually come with the full service record from the Nissan or nismo service center. And mileage is in the 70k km range. Too expensive for my application.

-Grade 3.5 is where I'm interested the most. The paint on those cars are not perfect. There will be some aesthetics damage, not so pristine interior. But there is the best part, maybe ex-track car, drift cars usually end up there. It may comes with some sort of mod, rims, etc. That's money back when parting out here in N.America.

-Grade 3 is trouble. It's in decent working condition. It is great to pick up a bone stock shell and to throw away 75% of the mechanical components.

-Grade 2, 1, 0 are literally cars for the scrap yard. The problem with importers in N.America is they pick up all those POS for cheap, bring them here, give it a good wash and they will sell for 6k to 9k. They make a good 3k per car. These cars are abused track cars with mysterious background, some are stolen, some are so beat up I've seen personally seen the chassis of that S13 so twisted it doesn't corner right at traffic speed. The engine on those ex- track cars are most likely tired so their prices will be somehow low. We're talking 6k for a near dead R32 GTR with coilovers and some goodies which sells for 10k here in Canada.

-Grade R is the VGA section. It's being in an accident and repaired. It may be a large impact, or it may have been small. It's very risky unless you trust your broker 4500%. I don't and I will pay more for a clean title.

Depending on the season and the demand of the market, a non-GTR R32 4 door should cost 3k before shipping and prep. It sounds low for a Skyline but Japan is littered with Skylines. A grade R R32 GTS-t type M sells for 1800$ and it's modified. So I plan on picking up a type M 4 door for 4000$, 5000$ with brokerage fees, and in-land shipping to the Yokohama seaport.

    Shipping now.
There are 3 types of shipping. 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of the people us the last 2.
    1. FedEx offers a 24h global shipping service. Anywhere in 24h for any package. I can take the FedEx number from my father but he would choke me to death. It's 100$/ kg from China to Montreal at corporate rate. A R32+ all goodies and parts I will get = estimated 1800kg. That's a nice 180k $ shipping bill. ( OT: maybe we can ship the 3 CEO's from the Big 3 this way, it's cheaper then to fly private jets)

    2. Enough fantasy. The second option is to load it in a container. The container needs to be filled with 4 cars and about 4 engines blocks + some aero parts to be economically viable. That wait can be long. But it is the safest and reasonable money-wise. We are talking about 1100$ + tax per car for container + container fess = about 1400$. That's Yokohama-Vancouver only.

    3. There is the cheapest shipping method called RORO. Roll on Roll out. The car will be rolled on the boat, exposed to 3 weeks of sea weather abuse and rolled out in Vancouver. It's about 800$ but many people touch your car, move it, risks of thefts, damage is much higher.

I would opt for container shipping.

Next. It is great to have a R32 in Vancouver in the Customs Canada warehouse. All paperwork, translation, transport cost 500$. Once the container is checked for drugs, TNT, immigrants, it's good to go on the CN Rail. The rate is 800$ + tax Vancouver-Toronto and 950$ + tax to Montreal.

Once here, I send it to my father's warehouse in the industrial park. This will cost a dinner @ Chinatown. Peanuts. 100$ let's say.

Once the car is here.Registration, legalization, and inspection is done. Sidemarkers, emissions test, resgistration, plating is the usual cost to about 500$.

    Quick recap:
    R32 4 door = 5000$
    shipping to Van.= 1600$
    Inland shipping= 1100$
    Dinner 100$
    Paperwork = 500$ + 500$

    That's 8800$ for a clean GTS-t type M.

OR you go to a trusted JDM shop, give them a deposit and wait. A trusted JDM shop will charge you a decent price. It should be 8000$ for the same clean 4 door GTS-t and pray nothing is wrong even if inspected.

Tein RA coilovers are pretty much the most streetable coilovers out there. Used is about 1000$
LCA, tie rods should be about 1000$ in total and I'm pushing it.
R32 brake upgrade is popular so it should be 1000$

    I'm at 11.8k right now.

    A R32 RB26 is about 4000$
    R33 RB25 RWD tranmission 1000$
    swap = 2500$
Nismo bearings, Tomei metal gaskets, Tomei oil restrictor, ARP head studs , ARP main studs. Put a good oil pump, Timing belt, water pump. + LABOR = rebuild = 5000?

R32 GTR rims and one Bride seat is all I have left probably = 1000$ + 700$

    GRAND TOTAL = 26k for a 2 door GTR.
Ok. I must admit the 18k budget was a bit low. But I'll probably manage and lay off on the RB26 idea for the next year.

boys, i believe im picking up my silvia in < 1 wks time!!
    woot!!!

damn expensive tho... but im sure it'd be worth it =)
i guess u pay for wat u get... and this is mint condition =)

    @ gordon
i looked into importing (at least to aussie)
i guess the main issues, to me anyway were

    1) finding the car at auction, cos ur not there and seeing it in real life and u dont' get to test drive, all ur going off is fotos... end of day, theres still potential issues u don't know abt
    2) organising the car onto container - u'd need agent or 3rd party to do it, and depends how much u trust them. cos u'd have to netbank across the funds for the car etc and all ur money is out there, u haven't gotten anything yet. always a risk
    3) customs and compliance - u never know how long it could take and wat issues arise at customs. the more issues and longer it is, the more u'd get charged. u'd hoep everything goes cleanly, but if it doesn't, then what? could take 3-6 months before it gets cleared.
compliance wise (don't know if the same applies to toher places) but say it came with certain mods that were non-standard, they made get converted/removed to the stock parts (in which u'd have to pay) so it can get complied. new tyres as well etc

    thats just my 2c

if u do it urself, its def cheaper than going to an import dealer. but i guess theres the satisfaction ur doing everything urself as well

i was looking into that, mainly cos i couldn't find any nice local stock
but now that ive found one... mmmmm
    maybe my next car :p
other thing is, insurance... personal imports obviously cost more

but at end of the day, these toys... how can u say no to it~!!!

  11. easy. they're toys. and they will make a black hole out of your wallet and ass.

at the end of the day, someone with a nice toy will have a huge smile in the face. 50,000$ @ 2% interest rate in GIC's nowadays will probably cover for the medical expenses of the high blood pressure or depression from overstressing. lol. But seriously, interest rates are so low lately, and with the "great" economy, I'd count myself lucky if I see gains in my capital. Might as well lose money with a smile. In a Skyline -lol

that's how i see it. I love cars too much.
That's why I can't dedicate myself seriously to any woman.

my new baby to get picked up once wkend arrives!!
its def at a regretable price... but i'm sure it'll be all worth it in the end!! hahaha
best condition one i've seen to date!

Yea, we are getting our roads done at half price too. Roads here are worst then Baghdad after US dropped bombs on it. In Honda forums, there are some people that got their RE-30's, TE37's and even the SW338 ( or RegaMaster) bent because of ginormous potholes/craters. That's one of the reasons why the Canadian F1 Grand Prix got cancelled amongst others reasons like this Nazi-loving-cunt Bernie wants more cash when half the European calendar is losing money.

We also that this stupid protectionism rule that forbids any car newer then 15 years of age ( to the month) to be landed. Because the Canadian government believes we have to leave those low piece excrement used car dealers rip more Canadians. And it was supposed to help the Canadian car factories. LOL. Well it didn't. We have 3 CEO's fly in private jets to beg for money. GM today asked for an immediate funding of 6 billion dollars by the end of the year and the rest of the 2 CEO ( read clowns) are asking for a total of 34 billion dollars in loans and the such.

The rules of nature applies. The strongest live, the weak will be weeded out. I want Ford to live, but I have no mercy for GM and Chrysler. They got what they deserve.

sorry for being so political lately.

Reno, very nice S15! May I ask how much? I see them in the regions of ~13k$ CDN ( converted from yen) And what do you plan on doing to it? ( Tein S-tech + 17inch rims) -^_^

  18. today they drove a hybrid escape, hybrid malibu and a hybrid durango to washington. lol!

yea man, montreal has fucking messed up roads... you're bound to end up with a bent rim if you're not careful.... which happens all the time in montreal lol

Aren't S-tech's just lowering springs? Invest in a set of Tein Flex. Independent Ride height, EDFC compatible, and I believe it's 24 way adjustable dampening but it's only warrantied up to 16.
