i think he may be referring to current affairs , out of all the history i've taken the only mention of the asian war was the bomb. I wouldn't have even known china was really involved or there was a battle in the philippines.

Gosh, that's like... so sad. I personally lament the fact that there's so much history that I would never live long enough to read all of it. -unsure

my soulmate hadouken. You the only one understanding what i'm talking about. -clapclap
I'm not saying that everyone in west don't know Tojo just that the average men/ladies on the street (at least here in Denmark) won't recognice the picture (typical answer are like "old photo - some famous general?") or even heard the name Hideki Tojo (answer like "that sounds asian - chinese?korean?japanese?"). As some ppl already had said our school (elementary/high school) only focus on the european/american/atlantic part of ww2, and it's almost more likely that the atomic bombs are brought up more times during the physics class then history class (so sad I know).

As to Ralphrepo's second post. Even if you are immortal you can't read all the history. Current history are created and altered and old history are changed almost constantly.

You're correct in that European or American academia mostly focuses on its own history, often ignoring many other facets of the world until one gets into the university level. And you're correct too, about current events being history in the making; just a simple look at Darfur, Iraq, Zimbabwe, or the US financial market :rolleyes2: will bear that out... & thank you for your clarifications. :punk:

Should we have brought a wedding gift? LOL...
