Thanks for the PM, flaming; ...and on the surface, it didn't look so bad (as in bloody) but sometimes these things can be deceptively benign in outward appearance. Rupture of the scrotal sack (testicular degloving injury) may be painful and look disgusting, but as long as the testicular globe (ie, parenchymal tissue within the lobules, the tissue that makes sperm) itself didn't get ruptured and the connecting ducts didn't tear, then the victim may salvage sperm production function (dignity, on the other hand, is something that I doubt can ever be salvaged). Additionally, an impact that was strong enough to forcibly rupture the scrotum (usually extremely elastic), probably did damage to the surrounding perineal (the area between the scotum and anus) and or pelvic anatomy. He should be explored for other acute but less obvious issues (like hematoma or internal bleeding; hidden rupture of the rectum or bladder, severence of the urethra; and or fracture of the pelvis). This was indeed a serious injury.
