Hey and hello to the entire PA society. Hopefully you guys can spare the time to read my self-introduction and not fall asleep halfway through. Although this is sort of a hypocritical hope mainly because I fall asleep during my own self-introductions. My name is Raymond **, feel free to call me Ray. An Australian-born-Chinese, I'm currently 16, a full-time student, and live in the Melbourne area. In the past I have never really given much thought to my ethnicity and culture, but now I'm starting to feel the attachment to my chinese heritage - thus I just happened to stumble upon PA. I've never been much of a forum-goer in the past so I hope you will all forgive my frequent (and occasionally semi-permanent) disappearances. I'm fluent in English (obviously), able to interact with others in Cantonese (I still need to work on slang, technical and formal language), and extremely crap at Mandarin. In regards to the latter I really think I should refer to my prowess at the dialect as Canto-rin: That is, it's Cantonese converted to Mandarin on the fly. As for my pictures, they're coming up below, and frankly I've never really been good at posing for photoes. This is partly due to my glasses coming down to halfway down my nose and so I usually look arrogant while trying to look through them normally. Unfortunately, some of my best pictures happen only when I'm getting an award of some sort. =[ .Oo:. Myself, posing for a shot after recieving an Academic High Distinction and VET Information Technology Prize at my school speech night. I went on to score a 50 (the highest score possible) for the subject that counts towards my tertiary entrance score. .Oo:. My cousin, my little brother and myself on a trip to the Grampians. Myself on the far left. .Oo:. My (former) Chinese teacher and the Chinese consul in Toorak, after I came second in the "China through Australian Eyes" essay competition. .Oo:. My two best friends and myself posing for a photo during a school cultural trip to China - touring Beijing, Nanjing, Xian, Suzhou, Shanghai, and (I think) Chengdu. Twenty-four hours after the taking of this photo my glasses broke (a post-mortem revealed) due to an extremely fat and arrogant classmate WALKING into me (a post-mortem conducted on my externally mounted occular equipment revealed evidence of a massive physical impact at the time of destruction). .Oo:. I hope we can all get along great. =] ~Ray
if i'm not mistaken... "I am the bone of my sword.Steel is my body, and fire is my blood.I have created over a thousand blades.Unknown to death.Nor known to life.Have withstood pain to create many weapons.Yet, those hands will never hold anything. So as I pray, "Unlimited Blade Works." and welcome!
Spot on! I wasn't expecting someone to pick up on it that fast. =] Hello guys and thanks for your warm welcomes. I'd post a more elaborate reply but my brain has just overheated after reading the Philosophy and Religion subforum. Any suggestions for which forum(s) I should pay particular attention to?
