Well, I am not "very" familiar with the Canto music stuffs but one thing for sure, if it's a popularity award, shouldn't it be voted by the fans/supporters and not the management. I also gotta point out that popularity has nothing to do with an artist being hardworking or not; just simply reflect whether you're well liked by your audiences. Singing should always be judged by their talent; not how many shows they had done or whatsoever. I recalled one year that Andy Lau didn't get the best male actor award and Tony Leung took it home; fans were pissed off and demanded that Andy should get one too .. The following year, Andy got it. It's so stupid. That's not to say that Andy can't act; just that Tony is a lot better than him from my personal opinion. Award are based on acting skill; not popularity.

Apart from Joey or Kay no one is more deserving of the award, Miriam's only got one single out. But if her hosting Mr HK is true, then this would make sense

I can and i will!! =p How can u say they cant be compared? They are both artists in the music industry... And are in the same category... And their stuff is similiaR It's not like one does a different genre of music or somethin Or one is part of a group and one is a solo artist... Okie yeh of course they have different 'styles' to how they sing etc But at the end of the day its my opinion of her I DUN LIKEYYY HERRRR =P So thereeee!! And honestly she hasnt even done much to deserve the award which is an UNBIASED truth =p

fair enough that you dont like miriam ... but still biased to say that she dont deserve it! You cant say she hasnt done much.. does she have to release billions of singles/album and open countless concerts to say she has done loads?? NOooo la its the amount of effort put into her work and the persistancy to produce good quality songs that has been recognised to win that award. quality over quantity
does that really matter? Joey's gonna be popular no matter what, Miriam, just let her be happy. I don't see any negative effect to both of these singers.
JSG has never really been a fair awards show. Do you guys remember Ron Ng winning Silver for newcomer award? LOL If Justin wasn't in the same newcomer year as him I'm sure they would have given gold to Ron. But they didn't dare because everywhere else gave Justin Gold. They always give the awards to their own people la.. so unfair. Joey is definitely better than Miriam. Miriam didn't even do much this year. TVB totally unfair.. and I'm really starting to get annoyed because when I was TVB here.. everytime its time to play a music video its ALWAYS A LINDA CHUNG MUSIC VIDEO. grrrrrr!!!! So annoying!!

JSG is hosted by TVB , they are known to give awards to people they'd like to promote, under their contract or maybe some one kissed ass behind the scenes, how bout the year nikki chow got robbed! I've lost faith in any awards that are given out by the current industry years ago they are just shams for popularity. (not including the movie awards) Some of the independent radio station awards are more reliable. How much talent do you think some of these people really have? jumping from mr/miss hk to acting to singing to winning awards so quickly.. If you are recruiting most of your top stars from a freakin pagent show every year then there's definately something wrong with the way the way things are run right now, same ol every year. Someone should setup a real talent agency and train their artists typically 3-5 years how to sing and dance so they can be ready like they do in jap/kor
I agree .. but I don't think it will happen. TVB is ruined since it was handed to Steven Chan, the GM. He fucked up everything. TVB used to train their artists but now, everything is skipped and right to the set. If you look at the older generation like Liza Wang or Dodo Cheng whom had undergone the training, they're still good. Each knows their limit or weaknesses and well prepared. Personally, I find both Joey and Mariam suck big time so neither of them deserve an award which is meaningless anyway.
