so... after saving up my petty cash for about a yr or two (2 yrs back) I got a sh*tty kodak DC. C743... started off fine... till i knew more and more about FEATURES/// -noclue the 7.2 megapixel is great for under sunlight potraits, but indoor and night photos s*cks the cr*p out of itself... sorry for the **** just annoyed at the camera. its got no features, macro doesnt work for under 30 centremetres. flash works up to 30 centremetres =.= battery life.... durecell or energizers last about 40 pictures, no branded AA batterys last about 5. bought a 8gb SD card, but the camera doesnt support it... screen 2.5" screen won't tell you anything about the photo, need to go home and check it on the computer to know if the photos good or bad. I've compared my photos with those of my friends and mine just dont look like they've come from a cam with 7.2 mp looking at a new simple DC camera, but reviews dont talk about battery life, and daily use. just wondering what you guys might suggest or are currently using and would recommend. PS. II do have a budget you know! =P thanks!! -rockon-rockon
well budget is probably $300 Australian Dollars, but if the camera is sooo appealing, then i can accept otherwise. I've got a 2 megapixel canon power shot. that I've loved... back in the days though.. looking at something around 10 mp+ any specific canon you would recommend?
quite a few canon ixus models under 300 u dont' need the newest ones, i don't think u'd notice the difference much =) ixus860 has wideangle prolly just over ur budget otherwise just go with ixus75/85 canon ixus in general are just pretty decent, value for $$
tbh its not that much about megapixels cos that just means it can be expanded larger without losing any quality and basically there rele isn't a need for so many megapixels in a camera, more important would be the sensor on the camera as that will be producing the quality of the pictures in the first place and then a gd amount of megapixels is gd. this can be demonstrated by dslr's, u can get 8 megapixel dslr's and bcos the sensors on them are of much higher quality they take much better looking pics in the first place and look much better than 10 and even 12 megapixel cameras but then again they are dslr's. if u want gd image quality i do agree with others that cannon or nikon or panasonic tend to produce gd pictures. go for those makes.
You can check out Canon SX110 IS, Sony T300, Canon A2000, Sony DSC-W130, and many others Sony is alright for taking point and shoot photos.
Like Rth said, Sony is more for taking quick photos. I personally recommend the Canon SX110 IS seeing as how a friend of mine has it and the pictures look great.
fuck Sony no offense, but Sony blows. they have the grainiest pictures. not to mention, shit lens, shit features, shit everything. Look for a Canon powershot series camera. you can NOT go wrong with a canon powershot. you shouldn't have gone for a kodak. the only two brands of camera i would even consider are nikon and canon ONLY.
:laugh2: @dann.. i have a Canon Power Shot A720IS and a Sony DSC-W80.. both take good quality pictures.. nothing wrong with sony.. in fact i prefer the Sony more for point and shoot camera just that the Canon had the advantage of zoom.
I've been lookng around today: the Nikon Coolpix the Canon IXUS 85IS/90IS Couldnt find the Sony T300 for sale. I dont seem to be able to see much of a difference besides price and looks of the 2 IXUS's... but after all, just looking at good quality photos from a camera with a GOOD battery life. Which would be better? Nikon or Canon? other sony's seems a bit pricey....
i have a Canon IXUS and it does me for day to day use. also have a Nikon D40 DSLR when i want better photos
Can you give me an estimate of how many photos one charge of the canon IXUS will take you? thanks =] i like to take piles photos, friends, nice views, funny stuff, food, etc etc...
ur in australia like 99% of others... just get a canon ixus and it'll more than do the job u don't need the newest one, just look at which is within budget and which feels better the 75/85 have a 3" screen wheres as 70/80 only have the 2.5" the 860i has wideangle they'll last more than u need, and if u are really despearate, get a 2nd battery and have it charged and ready. since its an external charger, this makes it even easier? if u increase ur budget, get a dslr
Koool... Y ^.^ Y I'll go over to local appliance stores this week and check out all the IXUS they have!! THANKS EVERYBODY FOR YOUR HELP!!! -blush
i agree Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T300 seems good! but canon has feature functions and neat stuff, since they are first in the camera businesss right?
well the best battery life would probably be the sony :laugh2: you should check out the Panasonic TZ5 also
