well i only have a IXUS 60, and that costed me ~$230 over a year ago. I don't take much photos, so the battery lasts me a good few months, as a matter of fact i've only charged it 5 times or so since i got it.

you're best to go to the local Harvey Norman and bargain there ass, thats where i got both my cameras. I generally like shopping from them for service and warranty purposes.

those are a bit too professional for my simple everyday use. but thanks

I did a search on 3 retailer websites, none had the panasonic, and I dont prefer Sony just cause its too common and I'm not so much a brand person. :p

haha... you should see my canon photoshot 2mp camera... XP
my Kodak is pretty ugly too if you ask me.

looknig through local adverts, I see the new IXUS around that price, maybe a bit higher but I can live with that.
Dont like harvey norman cause of the sales, I tend to go to JB HiFi where the sales are more lenient on prices. =P

Sony isn't really bad.. and i'm not saying that I would always go with sony, but for P&S, Sony has good qualities.. most of the time is that people hate sony because of their high price >.< lol but you should really try testing the cameras if you can.. and i don't know what are IXUS >.> since US Canons name are SD, IS, SX, or G mostly.. so i will get confused on some canon models >.< Panasonic is pretty good if you can find it ;) are maybe check out FujiFilm S2000

does that answer you question? :laugh2: I'm pretty sure you can't get a DSLR for $300 AUD... and for daily use.. why would you want to have a DSLR?

Don't know about Canada, but a cheap / decent DSLR camera (Nikon D40) costs a good $550 new. + i definitely won't be using it on a day to day basis.

  11. You DID read what the OP said... right..? -noclue

    I've been out window shopping....
    Concluding at last 4 cameras.

    (1) Canon IXUS 90 IS
    (2) Canon IXUS 85 IS
    (3) Canon PowerShot A480
    (4) Canon E1

I think I've got something for canon cameras... :p
thinks its probably cause my 2 mp canon is better than my 7 mp kodak

honestly, i've only tested the canons. -sweat
I think the IXUS90 and 970 is different
one is normal, other is wideangle. (if my memory is right)
I think I'll go with the IXUS 90, its got the big 3" screen, image stabilization, 10 effective megapixels and 30fps video recording.
    seems good for $288 AUD.

The PowerShot SD790 is known as the IXUS 90 IS in some countries.

    :p
but if you really want video recording on a camera.. i would not go with canon :p lolz
canon aren't known for video recording in my opinion.. i've tested a Canon A720IS which i have.. video recording quality sucks.

Thanks for all the help guys!!!!

I've gone and got myself a IXUS 90 IS
JB HiFi, according to the sales, the camera was selling at 350, but on discount at $288.
I also got a spare battery ($85), but negotiated the price and got $345 for the 2 items. :laugh2:

Maybe next time. its good, but a bit pricey and weather proof isn't really too useful for me.
    Not yet atleast. XP
