its a hard and long road........maintaining the same focus together through the years away from each other........sometimes we have to be realistic of this.

it will take a lot of discipline to keep it going, as long as both are committed is not an issue

I think its tough. It'll only work on a case by a case basis.

im going through this... but once a year we get to meet each other for 2-3 months~ now we've already been together for 3 years :D
of course we'll miss each other, but we really trust each other.. both of us have trust and love.. ~ and we're really working quite well~

Frankly,i won't be able to trust my boyfriend,so, for me,it wouldn't work...Somehow it depends on the person...A jealous person may aggravate the situation if the person is too possessive but if they love each other and are positive that it would work, then it would be okay..

a couple of my friends were in long distance relationships... 2 of them are now engaged and a third had broken up...

it all depends on how things work out btwn the couples...

i know i wont be able to handle long distance relationships

it depends on you. but this long distance relationship costs you lots of money and effort to contact each other. it will be lots of problems and also the trust to each other. if you cannot afford these than better not to have long distance relationship.

if you think that money is not a big problem for you than go on.

I think not. Some of my friends have long distance relationships. It will not work cause a couple needs to be close together.

yes, it works. been through it myself, 2 years. don´t know if it counts that long distance but my bf lived about 5-6 hours drive with car away from me..we didn´t see each other that much because of work. it was hard but talking on the phone almost every night helped a lot. but both of you have to be willing to care for your relationship otherwise it´s difficult to have long distance. trust and caring is important. and now bf moved here..

my friend´s bf lives in US and she in europe, they only see each other once a year. but because they love each other the relationshsip works.

I been with my wife (Japanese) for 6 years and she has moved back to Japan permanently. I am trying to get through college and pay off my credit cards until I can move out there (around November). I am not gonna glamourise it and say it's easy cause it's not. We chat on Skype with video calling daily and once we have chatted I always feel as though she never really went. We also e-mail eachothers phones etc.

If you are in love with that person and they love you then it will work. I am going there in June for a couple weeks, she is coming to me in September for a week then I am moving there in November.

I know our situation isn't like most people who have been in a long distance relationship for years but I have never been alone, before I met my wife I hardly had any friends but was always at home with my Mum as she was disabled and could hardly walk and after having 14 operations her health wasn't that great. Since meeting my wife I was still a loner with people on the outside as I was always with her.
Now I am on my own totally as my Mum died in 2007 and I live alone I kinda wish I kept a social life going but when I have social anxiety problems it's not easy.

But at the end of the day if two people are willing they can make it work. I don't know about permanently but until both people know what they want it's up to them how they proceed.

as long as u two have faith and trust each other i dont think its an impossible thing, but for how long, i think it depends on the situation
