if someone doesn't believe in their product they should either a) use their knowledge to improve it b) quit and go work on a project they do believe in
there is a guy that all he knows how to do is complain about how our product sucks. How it's inefficient, how it wont work (before he even tries), how it's not good. He even complains before a project even starts. He works across two teams and he always bitches about the other team, and then the two team leads were chatting and found out that he was also bitching to them about our team. I found out yesterday that he has been spending a week and a half to do the stuff that I just started doing and took me a day and a half. He found issues and instead of reporting them and working with people to get them fixed, he complained once and just sat on his ass and refuses to do any work until it's fixed 100% (even though there are work arounds or he can skip the problem areas and focus on other areas). And we have these short stand up meetings everyday to report what we are working on. And when it's his turn he all he does is whine and bitch, and once he's started he doesn't shut up. I just want to smack him and tell him "stop your bitching and do your work by trying to find a solution to the issues"
suggest to ur lead or boss to take him out of this project because he is affecting ur productivity. sooner or later he'll b out of the job n he'll regret it with this economy
I would complain about him to the boss, you should also find out if your colleagues think of him like that also, If you all do, then all complain together. High chance he will be eating fried cuttlefish
Well, the first step to resolving the problem is to confront him at the regular meeting. Tell him to step up to the plate and help out cuz his whining doesn't solve anything but hurt the teams' morale. If things don't change, then move up on the chain of command. The guy probably think it's fine with what he's doing cuz no one is willing to stand up and tell him to shut the fuck up. Modo is that if you don't have anything constructive to say, then keep it to yourself.
oh well, i would take it as a wasteful resources to the company but there are certain ppl like those that would make your boss feel you are really working and u will get a promotion faster, why not,
very true but in any company that require team work, such behavior is unacceptable. i know cuz i had fired quite a few myself. regardless of your intention; the idea is to work in harmony and increase efficiency and productivity. especially with a slow econ like now, companies are cutting staff so one should take initiative to help out other colleagues when possible or take on more work. people like that are the first to get axed on the list.
I don't understand the referance of fried cuttlefish Anyways I have talked to a manager about the issue which he said confirms the sence he's been getting. My manager is going to talk to his manager to see what's going on and why his manager hasn't been really being proactive with him (it's kinda hard now that his manager and him are on separate teams). As for letting him go, he's a contractor and his contractor ends in less than two months? How do i know? The second time I sat down with him to do his work he then showed me a calendar of when was his last day and he was not oppomistic about coming back (i know he's not coming back because of the budget cuts) and he had the additude like he didn't care because it's not like they were going to hire him or anything. !!!! What is STFU?
^ STFU = shut the fuck up a contractor .. hmm .. that sucks .. cuz com usually have an intensive screening process. too bad .. another 2 months to live through .. lol
well that's probably why. i mean if he knows he's not coming back, then he's probably just like screw it.
i upright confronted him of course he was defensive, but it just continued to piss me off about how he kept explaining all this stuff that he tried to do, but people blew him off which is half bull$hit because i talked to those people and we were chatting about how come they weren't told sooner, or his showing his emails that he sent out, WAY AFTER I STARTED ADDRESS THS ISSUE when i discovered the issues a week and a half after he had. like he's still bitching about the old issues, when me and another coworker have been working our asses off for a week and a half now to fix it all. Shows that he really keeps up to date. And he has the nerve to tell me that we have to get together to set up priorities! WTF! if you can't move forward, i would say that makes it priorty one. I dont understand why you need a whole team to approve that yes you are stuck, so please make that priority one. No one on team thinks that you are people are stupid enough to be waiting for approval before fixing an error that prevents you from continue working (oh he's not stupid, he's just lazy and making up excuses).
negative people at work or school are always around. you just have to deal with it. It also sounds like you're working IT. if that's the case, that guy probably can't get fired.
