I use penpower with it's software, however, when you use an older penpower, you can't use it on a vista machine, you have to buy the newest penpower
u can just type chinese in through the keyboard, vista and xp should have it installed if u can see chinese characters. all u need to do is to get the language bar up and then u can use ping yin to type chinese but it will be chinese simplified. just select the chinese PRC and u can type chinese, no need to actually install any programs.
Vista has a built-in Windows IME. Go to Control Panel, Region and Language, and you can add chinese as an input language. Then you just use pinyin to enter chinese characters.
i use windows built in. i hav both the chinese prc and chinese taiwan for both simplified and traditional (i think that's the difference between the two lol)
It only changes to whatever language you were using last on the application you are using. For example, if you were on msn and typing chinese, but go to Firefox and typing english, when you go back to msn it is back to chinese. You can also change your settings for your language bar so that you have to press two keys to change languages. For me, I chose the 'Left ctrl+Shift'. I am currently using CPIME because I wanted to use Cantonese Phonetics http://cpime.hk/
I use a Mac and I change my system preference to type chinese in pinyin and I know you can do the same with windows too because I had a window before. All you need to do is to go to the control panel and select language and you can change it from there. But I'm not so sure about typing in Cantonese. I always wanted to know...
yeah, that's it,lol!i will change the settings... wait,i thought the writings for chinese languages are the same??
Yeah... it works. 很棒!!! 好嘢!!! I have Vista and used the Language Bar. Chose "Chinese-Simplified PRC" and "Chinese Simplefied-Microsoft IME". However, I prefer to read traditional Chinese rather than simplified. They didn't have that option if I want to use the keyboard. My pinyin is not that good nor is my Mandarin. =] Maybe I'll try the "Cantonese Phonetics" program.
