The most expensive teddy bear July 25th, 2008 London department store Selfridges in London has unveiled their luxurious new Christmas offerings which will go on sale starting next month. The limited edition bear, which will be part of the store’s first ever toy collection, is thought to be the most expensive in the UK. This £43,000 ($85,000) teddy has eyes made of emerald and diamonds, a nose of solid 24-carat gold and the bear’s fur is entwined with Gold Leaf. It comes with a Mont Blanc pen with an ink pot filled with liquid gold. A spokesperson for the store said: “We’ve never had a toy department and we feel now is the perfect time to launch one as we want to give our customers the complete shopping experience.” Anne Pitcher, Buying and Merchandising Director, added: “Christmas is a time of indulgence which is why we have invested in a luxury festive offer appealing to both the UK and global markets.” The toy will be available from all Selfridge stores from August.
