As a non-Chinese guy, I do think HK people are materialistic and one more "ARROGANT". God know that HK and the mainlanders are the same .. all into FAKE stuffs.
I think its all perception. What I observe is this. Generally, in Asia, the teens tend to go for their expensive stuff earlier then their counterparts in the west. But that does not make HKgers more materialistic from the other part of the world. Just look at the Pop culture around the world and the way they promote the various branded goods will make your head spin everyday be it from the East or the West stretching from as far to Africa and to most remote part of the world. If only the various celebrities across the globe will embrace a more responsible way of consumerism and set an example themselves. But hey comon, that is unrealistic as glamor and blink blink is what sells them.
yeh i have known some hk people and i would say they love their branded stuff... its a must have for them haha. they seem to get sucked into it. i think they're way of thinking is some what shallow SOMETIMES...
i think if they can afford it then go for it... if it is beyond their budget and they still get it... that's just not right
depends on the type of HK/BIG 6 (mainland) some like the "look" of the brand name, cannot afford OR just do not want to pay for high prices and get fake designer bags... others still cannot afford or can afford and will pay for the latest REAL bags just cuz it makes them feel rich and look good... this type will automatically look down on the fake buyers... haha
everyone is materialistic in some ways...and if they tell you they're not...than they are lying to you or themselves.
uhmm..yah..but usually all asians are on the materialistic side, but I guess HKese are a bit on extreme side. They are generally a bunch of show off too, but they have gotten better and quiet down in recent years. At least much better behaved than over a decade ago I suppose.
