Anyone has the habit of picking his/her scab? Do they really leave scars? I never noticed mine and yeah, I have a habit of doing so ... very itchy around the wound whenever it comes along so you scratch and pick on it without even noticing it .. lol Gross .. yeah .. but can't help myself .. lol

    i have that habit too
some of mine do leave scars, but not all

but i notice that every time i pick at it, it feels like it takes longer to heal, and sometimes i have them for months, because everytime it's almost healed, i picked at it again.

Picking scab can cause scarring later.

imo, picking on scabs can always leave scars. there are different type of scars, but if it's a flat colored scar, it will eventually fade away. it does take time though. it helps if you wear sunblock over the scar to keep it from getting dark or else it will take even longer to fade. it helps some if you massage the scar with any moisturizing creme or oil (not cooking oil). any oil such as pure vitamin e oil. it's all about the massaging and not the product itself. the oil just makes the messaging easier. scars do leave a trace though. raised scars such as keloids or hypertrophic are the worst. you can always use an itch cream to control the itching. i know it's hard, but try not to itch as much as possible. =)

    i hope this helps.

Lol, that's because by scratching the scab you're actually opening the wound.

But yeah, I also have this habit, it gets really itchy for some reason and I find myself scratching it subconsciously.

yeah getting scabs and scratching is annoying and you'll get a scar. to prevent that is to put a plaster over it to prevent yourself from scratching it directly?? but doesnt that makes it slowly recover??

I use to like picking my scabs, too. It was lots of fun until I realized that another layer of skin seemed to form on the top layer. Then the skin looked really funny.
