alright, I have a huge problem which I need help with since I am soooo bad with computers and all that good stuff.

I recently bought a new computer which has Windows Vista...I know...BOOOOOOOOOO

either way, the computer doesn't have a parallel port to it. I found out too late.
now I have an old printer that has been with me for a while and its so great! it has never let me down!

its an HP2100 (yar yar i know i should just upgrade)
either way, i am trying so hard to find a bloody parallel port to USB so that i could still use it.

the ports i found are pretty cheap on ebay but then the ports all look freaking different!

the port i have looks like this (just don't have the USB connector yet but this is the one i was thinking of buying!):

however, when i try to look for more, i see the ports look like this:

i don't know which if i could use both of them or i have to look for the specific one since they both are the same 36 pin port...

    please help!

they look the same to me, so either one would be fine.

  3. or just get a new printer.

a new printer is really cheap nowadays.. even cheaper than a cartridge refill....

Easier to get a new printer. These types of upgrades end up spending more money and time than just going straight for a new one.

lol they look the same but the port plug is different. printers are cheaper now a days, but then its the ink that really makes and breaks the deal here...

thanks for your advise :) will take into consideration.

Both are the same. NOT RECOMMEND. I sales computer accessories so i know this cable sometime can't connect to printer so better just get new Printer or Buy and install a Parallel Port PCI Adapter

its cheaper to buy a new printer vs buying the cable and wasting the time to get it working.

In with the trash...unless someone collects these sort of old technologies then I give it to them

most of the time i donate them to schools or charities that can use them if not into the trash they go...once every year they have a computer recycling drive and then i take them there
