Dan's got a speeding ticket :(

  1. Yeshhh I got a speeding ticket, my first one.

I was going 99kph in a 70kph zone, and I have no excuses for my speeding.

    Got pulled over (obviously), and charged 140 bucks and 3 demerit points -_______-;;

Cop hinted that I should take it to court, so I can have my fines reduced and not gain any demerit points.

I'm 21 years old, and a guy. This doesn't help.

Being my first ticket, I'm not sure of the best course of action.

Anyone ever went to court in Ontario, or similar, and can advise me? Or should I just pay the fines, have it reset in 2 years, and have my insurance rape me in the bumbum?

    Lol @ "Demerit points".
Do you have to stay after school to pick up trash and/or write standards?

On a more serious note though, bend over and get the lube ready, insurance will rape your ass.

wow i didnt know policies are so different in every country..
im not from america so i can't advise you about the law and stuff but i'd pay the fine coz you blatently got caught for speeding.. but unlucky tho matey :)
im glad in england, don't think points affects the insurance + i got away with a speeding fine :D stupid camera xD

EDIT: well you can go to court if the police didnt follow a procedure or just touched you say he assaulted you and sue him and you might get away with the fine hahaa :p

  4. ^ Canada*

and he followed procedure alright. i'm not going to defend myself based on pretending that he broke the rule, and that would be a lie under oath, hence more money lost.

not telling you to lie...just asking :p
what are the demerit points for? :S
do you not have the limited points system? like the first 2 years since you passed your test you get 6 points limits then after that you get 12 points but you have to wait 4 or 5 years for the points to clear though...

I'm under the impression that demerit points are like getting points on your system. Everytime you get a moving violation (giggity), points are added to your license. After a certain amount of points, they take more serious disciplinary actions.

  7. ^ yes

6, 9, 12 = interview and possible suspension of license (usually at 12)

anyways, fuck it. i'm fighting the ticket. worst is, i'll have to pay this ticket.

How much demerit points do you have in Canada?

We have 4 demerit points for 1st three years.

But yeah, guess you have to pay the fine and get raped in the bum bum by Mr Insurance

I'd take it to the... 'fight for ticket' companies, which I assume is the court? Sure you'd have to pay a lot of money upfront to not gain any demerit points, but that's better than having to pay a shit load of insurance for the next 2 years.
    I'd go with court.

^ what if he loses in court?
then wouldnt that be more waste of money?
what is the rates of actually winning?

^ Well since it's his first ticket, I think he'll win pretty easily.
I know some people who get tickets all the time. They go to court, and they end up winning.

I'd go to court. Maybe the cop won't show up and you may not even have to pay the fine.

  18. there were 3 cops involved, one who uses the radar, one who pulls you over, one who writes the ticket.

there is a strong possibility that one of the three doesn't show up, which is enough to reveal a reasonable doubt.

but the thing is, what i'm afraid of, is crapping my pants in court. even if i know what to try and disprove, i would freeze up in there due to anxiety.
