Did Chinese attack dolphins foil a pirate attack? Thu, 04/16/2009 - 12:55pm It's hard for journalists not to get carried away with something as juicy as modern-day pirate attacks. But I think Chinese news agency Xinhua has jumped the...er...dolphin with this story: The Chinese merchant ships escorted by a China's fleet sailed on the Gulf of Aden when they met some suspected pirate ships. Thousands of dolphins suddenly leaped out of water between pirates and merchants when the pirate ships headed for the China's. The suspected pirates ships stopped and then turned away. The pirates could only lament their littleness before the vast number of dolphins. The spectacular scene continued for a while. [Emphasis mine] Is the People's Liberation Army training a squadron of dolphins to fight pirates on the high seas? Have we allowed the Chinese to open up a dolphin gap? Well, probably not.
is there really something like attack dolphin exist? I thought that was only for Red Alert games......
The Americans do actually have specially trained dolphins which are trained to place explosives onto submarines and ships!
if they made that movie about those enhanced sharks... forgot the title of it... i think they can train a dolphin to kill XD
I think the chinese are having a secret of training of the dolphins welcome to the red alert technology
roflmao to the picture... Dang, imagine 500 of those jumping around shooting laser... fuck me, that's worst than a nuke
dolphins are the 4th most intelligent animals in this world... same class as pigs haha so i wont be surprised if the Chinese Army trained those dolphins haha
IIRC, the US did train single individual dolphins, buluga whales, seals, and sea lions for military purposes, but AFAIK that was never with multiple or schooled marine participants; it was always single animal units. If the PRC did, in fact, train a force of dolphins that can be of reliable military application, do you really think the Chinese foolish enough to reveal the existence of that asset off the coast of Somalia, whilst fighting pirates? Seriously folks, if you know anything about dolphins, you'll understand that they were feeding. Dolphins have been shown to herd their target against a 'wall' where the prey cannot escape. In riverine or shoreline environs, it's the bottom; in the open sea, it's the surface (water - air interface forms a wall because the fish cannot swim beyond it). So if you happen to see a huge school of dolphins congregating at the surface of the water, they're usually having themselves a feast. Jeez, doesn't anyone watch the Discovery Channel any more? See full explanation video here: Planet Earth: Deep Ocean: Dolphin Hunt Maybe that was banned in China too? LOL... :ugh2:
