The Chinese medicated oil and plaster for sprains, headaches etc is one of the greatest gifts to mankind. Okay I am being dramatic here. lol. So which is better for Sprains ? oils or plasters ? And then there is the COOLNESS factor. Would you be embarrass with the smell and the huge plaster if you are out and about ? Well, I am not embarrass at all. I got a frigging neck sprain the last week and have 2 huge plaster, on my neck and I hop to work. I got some stares here and there and like the plaster seems abit inappropriate in the office. Screw them
medicated oil la... always work.. plaster just covers the stupid sprain and does nothing apart from puttin pressure on it lol
^ tiger balm smells nice.. well the white one does but they dont work no more :/ "mow bay go" is good though
when i was practising chi-na i was advised to use some ointment which had eagle claw and other stuff in it (cant remember the other things, may have involved something to do with a turtle!).
!!! -what? Chi Na Sau ? You still learning it ? Always wanted to take up martial arts. I pick up Tiger Crane for a while until I have to check out cos some triad members got involve with the mou koon. Now I am looking for a master to teach me Zhan Zhuang Kong Turtle Oilment ? Thats exoticccc hmmmm.. anything is possible though. @ MJ9 - Ummm Kwan Loong ? Let me check if I can find it around the Chinese medicine shop. Do the Gweilo use Medicated oil or plasters ? Anyone ? From what I can remember, they have no idea at all ! They are missing out ! @Kontra - Tiger Balm is pretty good but the strength of it seems to be weaker nowadays ( complaints from the older folks ) .. and they have hell lot more product range nowadays. The older folks gets piss about having too much choices. lol. @bb - That is why they should have the "designer" version. You know with celtic designs on it or like maybe mickey mouse or the pink panther. Groovy. How come they did not think about it ? Geee. Even Doreamon or Bleach version etc, will be much appreciated.
my bad, i mean chin-na, na i aint been doing it since higher education, you should checkj out eagle claw, but it can be dangerous, you dont wana kill someone accidently now. Zhan Zhuang Kong, aint that an internal art? hm i dont think it will help much in real life life situations, in this day and age where things aint so calm external styles are better imo. lol the triads came along haha
^ ok .. no clue what ya'll talk about there .. i am into martial art but no clue still ... lol .. chinese language ..yike .. no oil or smelly plaster .. you use ice pack and heating pads ..
Yeah I do hear that Eagle Claw is pretty lethal. But I am fascinated now with JKD. But can't seems to find any teacher about from where I am. Yeah I wanted to learn Zhan Zhuang because like I wanted some chi training. Its really good for the body and it promotes good body and blood circulation. Else I might even consider Taiji. Yeah I know its slowwwwwwwwwwww lol. But I need to get some mind discipline and is a quick way to calm down and ease the days worries away. Doing it like a mediation I guess. Hey the triad story is authentic. Master have a prodigal son who wanted to inherit the mou koon, father knew his son is an ass and refuse. So son went to learn Pa Kua Quan and came back to tek koon 5 years later. And the triad was there to take bets in the ring match. They decide to poison the father. My sifu... died in the most horrendous manner. Okay I am kidding. lol
Oh man ? Heating pads are considered gay when you have Medicated oil and plasters ! I tell you this. Take for example a simple headache right ? Instant relieve can come in 3 mins if you know how to massage your head and shoulder with some medicated oil. Go get some. Dude.. you won't look back ever By the way, Kung Fu goes hand in hand with medicated oil. No oil, no kung fu. If all the students are always in pain or muscle strain and there is no relieve, no one will pick it up ! So the Chinese art of Physiotherapy or "Tit Ta" ( Don't laugh now ) is a science in itself Try this brand
I learned all my martial art from Caucasian instructor cuz I can't understand it in Chinese...lol Never mention to me about medicated oil before .. saw a lot of different brands at some Azn market but no clue which is better .. just a matter of preference i guess; but they SMELL .. I can't even stand perfume or cologne ... so yeah .. no thank you.
lol. That will be tragic. Death by wrapping bandages. Anyways its much better now. A great pillow helps..
I think medicated oils would work best? That's what my parents used on me whenever I got sprains. But at work my dad uses the plasters? Or maybe it's something different have no idea. I don't know why... but ever since I was young, I kinda liked the smell of the medicated oils. Maybe I'm just weird lol.
in my case i think medicated oil. to me the plaster is just to cool the pain area to make it feel better whereas the medicated oil is to cure it.
