I just heard from my wife about it ...

We had dinner at Elephant Bar last night with the in-law and I paid for it but I also handed the waiter my corporate card for an additional 15% off .. my in-law think I am a cheap ass cuz now I give lesser tips .. WTF .. what's wrong with corporate discount??? I flash coupons if I have them too .. with this kind of economy, there's nothing wrong being FRUGAL, right??? as for tips, as long as give them 15% before tax, it's good .. I HATE MY IN-LAW.

I'll tell you a really funny story along that line. Last year, I went with my brother to a museum and while I was talking to him, my wife and his were in the gift shop buying stuff. When they came out, both had bought stuff but had put it all on my wife's card. It was only about 40 bucks so it wasn't a big deal. When my brother found out, he badgered his wife about why didn't they use his corporate card instead, since he was entitled to a 10% discount. He then insisted on bringing the items back and getting the credit put back on my wife's card (as a returned item) and paid for it with his card thereafter, and getting the discount. The difference? about three bucks and change.
The really comical part about this is, he makes about five million a year. -noclue
My wife and I still laugh about this.

you don't get to make 5 million a year by overspending and being uneconomical i guess :p

You've probably mentioned this prior, but what is it that you do for a living?

Does it involve computers :p cuz you sure seem to have a great deal of time to spend on the internet.

Also, negiq, is your corporate card a credit card that nets you an instant 15% cash back... or are you talking about a discount card that only applies at certain places?

because if its just a 15% cash back amount then you're still paying the total amount initially and its just reflected as less on your bank statement because your company is picking up the remaining 15% correct?... in which case, wouldn't any tips you made still be on the full amount?

ooor i could be totally wrong on how corporate cards work, i don't have any experience in the area... although hopefully i'll have an expense account by the time im 25 ^_^

If you can get discounts why not use it. I guess you in-laws don't really like you.

Honestly....I don't see no wrong in getting discounts, our family request for it...even though its the females of the family who actually requests for it or bargains about it. :xd:

  9. Discount is good... discount make you buy more stuff, which improve the economy since they need to make more products then :p

LOL... no, I certainly don't make that sort of money; my brother (the banker) does. I'm in public health and emergency management, and yes, I do spend most of my time behind a desk, with a computer (of course) these days. A few more years then hopefully, early out.

discounts are great. your in-laws don't know how to appreciate the opportunities put before them. or maybe their jealous of your discount card ;)

^ there you go... they don't understand being a normal citizen, they don;t realise what it is like to have a job like theirs and not everyone earns as much as they do
so i wouldn't bother because they won't understand till the day when they are not "well off"
next time, when they pay for dinner, order your share of abalone and shark fin soup :p see if they need a discount card then hehee

hahaha two birds w/ one stone =P
    - abalone + shark fin soup
    - they're paying (that'll teach them?)

then again if everyone is having their own abalone and bowl of shark fin soup... then i can't say much of how this will be a 教訓 (lesson?)

totally solves the prolem i know :p
it will only work if negi has the courage to order it first then they can have no say and might have to follow and think it will benefit them too if they ordered themselves one :p
they earn enough to order 4 of each so everyone has their own portion :p
