for sure that i will still get tatoos even if i work for negi, just the fact that i'll be wise and put my tattoo somewhere that ordinary people can see :p

it's only fair to respect your job if you want to keep it...
if the job allows you to have piercings n tats anywhere, then you are a lucky bastard...

at the office i have worked before, a software company n my current job at an insurance company both my ex boss n my boss never said anything abt it as i only wore skirts/shorts when i knew for sure that there wouldnt be customers there is not a problem as long as u can n know WHEN to cover up

yesyes, as always everyone n everyone who disagrees with u is stupid/weird right?
lol...u know how stupid THAT sounds? i honestly do not give a damn what ppl like u think... ppl can do whatever they like... its our own body so please, we dont need ur permission or anything...
    *sigh* narrow minded ppl :p

lol.....honestly....i wouldnt want to, he sounds like a tight ass >_<

well it really depends on the skirts and shorts situation, girls are generally allowed to wear anythign that looks smart and most offices allows casual smart... skirts and shorts would be fine so long as it looks representable in a good way :)

i supposed anyone who doesn't agree with you is a narrow-minded and tight ass ...lol

tattoo and piercing as an expression of one self? think again?? it's just a ghetto trend that people follow; thinking it's cool or whatever cuz they see from stars on the television. keep in mind, 90% of people in showbiz are lowly educated. if you're secured and know who you are; then there's no need to hurt yourself to make a statement. there are tons of way to express yourself perhaps in even more positive and productive way. yes, people have the right to do whatever shit to their own bodies but at the end of the day, do you think it's worth it? what does your tattoo really say about you that you had to have it??

^ Tatoos and piercings is there to express someone's identity
yes maybe its a trend but some people have them for a reason to be one-self
im not disagreeing with your views negi but being an ex-communications studies student i have studied this lol
it's just like saying like the triads, back in the day the only way you can show other people that you are part of a triad is through tats?
usually celebs puts tats on them just for personal interest.. as you have realised that in the movies their tats are fake...

^ madonna or britney .. ain't fake .. those are sluts symbols.

anyway, another group that has tattoos is military but they have a good reason ..

i don't believe in the absolute need of a tattoo and piercing for an expression of oneself. btw, you mentioned triad or stuffs .. basically, not an expression but a name tag sorta speak .. a BAD thing, don't you think?? there's no different from stamp you burn on cattle in the ranch .. lol

tattoos n piercings are a expression of one self. i've had 2 piercings and a tattoo since i was 17. throughout the years i got another tattoo, removed the 2 piercings n then got one. if u look at me u won't c my tats. one of the tats i got is of my last name in chinese character. i'm a wong and i'm dam proud of it. i think what ever i do to myself is worth it. if it isn't i won't b stupid enough to do it with regret. of my 25 years of my life i don't regret n e thing that i've done so far in life.

u also say military people have tattoos for their reasons.... care to share that??? i have a friend that just got usmc on his arm. i don't get y he got that but i don't put him down for it. i'm just guessing he's reppin the usmc just like how i'm reppin my last name

Tattooing the cattle in the ranch is to identify people...
People have tatoos so that they can get recognised as not everyone has a very good memory but the main intention is so that the tatoo gives them some sort of identity and tatoos can actually turn into a work of art you know.. maybe you are unwilling to get your body tagged for life but others do
I personally think tatoos are fine even when it comes to finding long lost friends or relatives...

lol no la, that was a judgement based on multiple things uve said before e.g. the whole (the way i see it, but u called stupid) cheating thing

r u trying to say that only low educated ppl have tats? lol cuz thats just so not true.... as ive said before, i know plenty of ppl who have tats who are educated n have office jobs
yes, celebs have it n some of them might not be graduated n have a master degree but it doesnt make em stupid does it?
I mean r u trying to say only highly educated ppl can be intelligent/smart?
Anyway, whatever la, they dont need a piece of paper to make money... at the end of the day thats what a lotta ppl want right.... they graduate n look for a good job to make a lotta money no?

lol ppl dont only have it cuz celebs have it... lol...u might think that cuz they are the ones exposing as apposed to someone who works at an office...
like if u were my customer who i'd have an meeting with i wouldnt be wearing a skirt exposing my tat...
n dude....abt tryna b cool like celebs, im not fan of any particular star or anyone, i didnt get my tat to follow other ppl...
when i got my tats i was alone, none of my friends or family encouraged me to do it so i didnt do it to be a part of a group, they actually thought i was bluffing when i told em... so i dont know where ur theory is based on
i did it because i felt like it... n thats the only reason i need i dont really care if ppl like it or not... its my body...even if i were 40 years old i wouldnt regret la

  11. tats,

    1. the military for identification purposes incase your head gets blown up and you need something to recognise you

    2. gangsters and thugs to symbolize their many criminal achievements and a badge/rank card

its not that big of a stereotype if people associate you with it

    lip pierce,

tats had purpose this thing is purely a fashion statement you will not be blingin it when you are 50 but bling it while you can, while people can shrug and say, young and foolish :laugh2:

^ Hadouken covered the stuffs about tatts for military and gangs

NOW .. making more money is not the ultimate goal of an education and it shouldn't be at all; otherwise, you'll be miserable getting through school.

About your " I felt like it" attitude .. everything has a cause and effect sorta speak .. what or why did you do it? life doesn't cut it with just "I felt like it" .. there has to be a reason as to why you wanted the tattoo/s .. cuz it was "COOL" when you showed to others, increased your self-esteem, gang member, or what?? unless you can come up with an absolute reason behind the tattoo, i don't think your response is very convincing as to why one should have tattoos or piercings beside follwing the mainstream trends. there's no need to put yourself through the pain and risk of infection. if you said it increased your self esteem or whatever alogn that line, tattoos ain't what you needed but a therapist .. lol

^ Funny, cuz thats what I think about a suit and a tie. Whats the purpose? we're just conforming to society's values. Isn't that also an indication of our insecurity? to wish to be perceived as normal with our peers and fit in?I have an earring, I like it. Don't like it? too fricken bad. If you do everything everyone else does all the time, there is nothing unique about you. you just have to be confident and be who you are sometimes. You're stereotyping a lot (you post that if you do, say, or dress a certain way, you MUST be doing it because of _____(insert reason here) ) and you have to realize that not everyone is the same.

As for OP, you're going to have to decide which is more important. a job, or your lip ring. It's all a matter of what YOU want. If you don't like this requirement then find another job.

^ that's the typical "NORMAL" people do in this society .. not a FREAK show with piercings on your nose, lips, tongues or whatever and tattoos on your body. When I said piercing, I don't mean the NORMAL ear piercing for the lady; that's just normal.

Conforming to society, that's just a fact of life. It's stupid to go out of the way to try to be unique such as dressing up or doing something outrageous just to grab people 's attention; now, that's insecurity.

Although as much as we don't like to judge on first apperance, we automatically do it. First of all, whenever we meet someone new especially a new client or customer, he/she WOULD not have the opportunity to know you clearly and thoroughly; therefore, they judge you by the way you present yourself. WE ALL JUDGE PEOPLE, BUT WE ARE JUST NOT AWARE OF IT SOMETIMES. It's just human nature to do that, especially with the media and how it is portrayed to even the youngest children as they age. Everyone judge to some degree, and unfortunately I think there are more judgmental people out there than there are those who understands. That is just the reality of the world, it's that cruel and unsympathetic sometimes. There are going to be stereotypes, ignorant people in every generation. Do you think that would ever end? No, because there would always be one person who would influence the other and so on.

I think a tattoo that is small, not too revealing but symbolizes yourself or someone close to you is ok though. However, I think facial piercings is a no no. Before you even present yourself or go through an interview, one would not take you seriously, or would not even want to have a thorough conversation with you...so no interviews.

When you buy yourself a nice new shirt, I can just as easily say that you're wearing a nicer shirt just to impress another person. Why don't you just wear an ugly old rag to a date with a lady? ANd let me ask you another question. Where did this Norm come from? Everything was introduced to our society as a new fad at one point and as people got used to it, they become the norm you know today.

Also at the above comment, notice I'm not saying that OP should wear his lip piercing to his interviews...society isn't ready for this YET. This I agree with 100%. When you go to an interview, dress and look like your employer wants you to look because you're at their mercy. However, he has to make a life decision and decide what he wants more. The reason why I entered this thread was because of of a post saying how being different is a sign of stupidity

LOL, ive always wanted to get it done....but didnt know what to get n was kinda chicken....
there is a reason behind it but its kinda cheesy to tell.... lets say i did it when i was all alone overseas n it symbolizes me n my fam...

it didnt increase my self esteem or make me a part of any ghetto gang lol...
actually, i dont think i am obliged tell u my personal reasoning :p when i say i feel like it it is true tho....why do i need to explain to anyone what I want to do with MY own body....

frosthards kinda hit the nail to what i said before, u think ppl who have tats or piercings are stupid but i think ut stupid for thinking we are stupid....

i dont have the urge to be like u or anyone else....
if i wanted to be a part of ppl like u i would do everything thats "normal" to what the majority of the ppl would do
if i have to do eeeevery single thing to make ppl accept me i wouldnt be able to accept myself... i just wanna do things my own way

^ lol .. you don't have to tell me the reason because it's your body and you're the one living with it. my point is that there is absolutely no need to get piercing or tattoo; that including your reason behind the tattoos. the risk of infection is not worth it. i don't agree with froshcards either. his comparison to clothing is dumb. we are referring something that requires prodding needle on to your body and leaving permanent ink/damage. piercing/tattoo has become fad in recent years and quite frankly, 90% of them are doing for that very reason. self-expression is a pathetic excuse because for people like you who hide the tattoo in some places where others can't see, what does it say about you then? NOTHING. It expresses nothing.

As my regards to this type of stuffs as being STUPID, I am not the only one nor the last one either. I don't understand why people are trying to so hard to be different when they still fall into a group regardless .. normal and freaks .. lol You want self expression, go naked to work or something ... lol

Must you be so aggressive and insulting everytime you engage in an argument? It is counter-productive and does nothing to convince others of your beliefs. Would it really be that difficult to just state what your beliefs are without accusing other people of being a certain way or calling them stupid just because they don't have the same opinions as you do? I recall that you stated that you were a manager at a business firm in one of the threads. I'm curious to know how you deal with conflicts with your subordinates. Surely, you are not as offensive when attempting to explain something to them?
