lol my friends always look at me funny when i use coupons at taco bell =P i support you man!! copuons discounts =] use em they help
Kimchi everyday? Kimchi seem quite salty for me.... Wow....doctor and a lawyer as an in-law....ouch big bux people...that explains a lot
nothing is wrong with it, accept infront of the in law they may think you treat your wife to discount stuff as well. . what i am trying to say is that they most likely want their daughter to have a good life and etc etc,..
tell me, what is a "good" life? his in-laws are just expecting the same quality if not more from how they have brought negi's wife up.. what they have to understand is that not everyone is as rich as them.. getting dscounted stuff doesn't mean not having a good life.. it's just saving up money.. and the fact that they have too much pride to use discounted things its their way of thinking of being a stuck prat..
^ yup, that depend on how you define "good life" ... my wife and I are on the road if not there yet ..
Yeah, why should your in laws care? They aren't paying for it. If they want to say something to you about it, then you should hand them the check to take care of.
^ with friends; yes, that's what i would do but it's my in-laws .. i have no desire to wage war and place my lovely wife in the middle of it all. i am still pissed about it though.
lol i dun think it's bout the discount... more so on the tipping... sorry m8... but 15% is so 10yrs ago... b4 all the non US residents jump on board and flame me... waitstaff here live on tips... not on salary... with inflation jumping and the greenback falling... 15% is like 10% 5yrs ago... using coupons/discount card is one thing... dickin on the tip is another... i'd lose face tipping 15% anywhere besides a buffet... btw... hope u like beans... cuz ur gonna be eating them by the truckfull to keep them sixpacks...
yeh, but the UK has a 10% tip auto punched into the final bill right? and the waitstaff isn't being paid peanuts i'm sure... cuz we only get minimum wage, and even lower in some places depending on how the tips are "pooled", no benefits, u can forget vacations, etc...
15% tip for a party of 4 is more than enough .. i give 20% (usually they automatically added to the check) when there's a party of 6 or more. 10% for party of 2. don't complain to me that these waitstaff don't get pay well. everyone has his/her way of making a living; you can't expect people to give you more simply cuz you're don't get pay much at work. we are not charity. gotta know that this is a free country, s/he can go back to school or whatever to improve him/herself and get another better paying job if s/he think the wage is too low. it's a no brainer. also, i hate it when staffs add the taxes to the check and expect me to pay for tip after taxes .. that's not how things work. i based my percentage before taxes. of course, in a hotel or restaurant when there are more than 6 people, those taxes and tips are added .. meaning more tips which I think is WRONG. also, when you have more than 6 people, the service is DAMN POOR cuz they know that they will get the tips regardless. complainting to the manager will hurt the waitstaff but God knows if s/he will do something to OUR food behind the doors. bottom line, i don't feel sorry for waitstaffs. i am not the picky type that is out to give them a hard time or whatever like some people can be and i pay my check with proper tips.
^ have pride in doing it? don't let them get to you.. so long as your wife is happy and if you keep doing it their snobby attitude might drop if not you can pyschicly piss em off lol
i am happy and not gonna change .. but my wife mind about her family's thought of me. she cares how they feel about me and stuffs .. you know the typical family things ..
lol they put service charge in there... cheeck of it... but then the ones who don't charge tips are usually little restaurants family business lol also the no benefits and vacations part still have to happen is its in the law to allow workers to have breaks, minimum wage, paid vacations etc... thats why you get all the polish in the UK coz of these stupid EU law aww that's true but then i gave up how my parents think of my BF after 2 years lol so she'll give it up one day
thats not actually true, very few places automatically add 10% tip to the bill and i can assure u the pay for a waiter is minimum wage which is pretty peanuts. then again u could argue why u should pay tip considering we are in a financial crisis and technically the staff are paid already and this price is included in the food, so why pay a tip? considering that people who work at fast food restaurants have if anything a harder job and get paid the same don't experience the luxury of a tip. but of course it is nice to give a tip but only when there is good service, rewarding people for bad service is def not gonna change their attitude or behaviour. anyway about the forum topic, discounts, there is nothing wrong with them, the company use that as an initiative to attract u to go and dine there. especially at the time of the credit crisis, a discount is definately something to be taken advantage of.
^ so bbes what do you have to say about the attitiude about his in-laws then? is discount wrong when paying a dinner with them as well?
i don't feel bad for waiters or waitresses. My math teacher in high school used to work as a waiter at a pretty high class place over the summers. He said he made more money being a waiter for 5 months than he did teaching high school over the rest of the year. Kinda shows how much money you can make per night just on tips alone
