hey i realised that .mkv files can';t be played on windows media player and all that

so i downloaded Media Player Classic, coz the file said that there's english subs i tried to get it up but i can't when i press "load subtitle" then this message comes up..

"To load the subtitales you have to change the video renderer and reopen the file
    - DirectShow: VMR7/VMR9(renderless) or Haali Video Renderer
    - RealMedia: Special renderer for RealMedia, or open it through DIrectShow
    - Quicktime: DX7 or DX9 renderer for Quicktime"

what do i need to do? does it mean i need to download a different media player to play it????

  2. it plays my subs, i just right click and tell it to use the sub, not sure about all them special setting things, aint done it for so long that ive forgotten

http://www.dramasian.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7226 and 2nd post, faq is slightly outdated so I need to update it when I have time :p but it should be fine

If that doesn't help you need to tell me the type of sub file it is and the type of video file cuz it depends on what your trying to play like is the sub in a separate file or encoded into the video file itself as a softsub

but to be honest its all about the codecs :p and windows media player can play mkv files with the right codecs

if its general stuff download k-lite codec pack if its anime fansubs your watching download the CCCP, but then again the CCCP should just do fine by itself since k-lite has so many conflicting codecs. Also if you do download the CCCP then you should get real alternative too if you watch any TVB series, real media player is complete shit.
