I use: Avast Home Edition av Zonealarm Home Edition firewall Spybot S&D Ad-Aware Firefox + adblocker Panda Rootkitscanner Are you guys who are using McAffee happy with it? I can get a free (legal) license for McAffee, but i don't have experience with it. And there will be enough virusses and trojans for linux / macs if more people use that OS it is now not very worthwile to make virusses for those OS

Haven't relied on a software firewall in about 2 years.

Well, if its there I'll use it I guess.

  8. actually is a registry cleaner necessary? does it actually help get rid of bad registry.. or would it remove some stuff that might be important and actually make things worst?

  9. ^ sometimes it may just skip over unnecessary registry address... so blah

i haven't used anything but the windows firewall... i haven't had any problems, eventually you just know what to look out for..

AVG Free and windows firewall is all that is needed

firefox with ad-blocker and noscript for those "dodgy" sites

oooooo ...another old school thread -lol

AVG is fail I used to use that but it started picking up random viruses which aren't viruses and windows firewall = bigger fail :p

spysweeper is good too but a better alternative would be superantispyware since its light on resources and spysweeper has become bloated in the newer versions

  12. old then and an old member!! Whoa where have you been man??? haven't seen you in ages!

^ haha :xd: nod is fucking awesome, its really quick on scans which I love and AVG used to take forever for me -^_^

glad to see no one is using norton though

ditto :p I just got busy and currently I have some free time so I thought I drop by again, been around for a while now :smiling: glad to see you k too but I see you have gained quite a stalker reputation LOL

  15. NOD is definitely a good antivirus software.... but i avoid most infected files by checking it through an online virus checker..... easier and it passes through all different types of antivirus programs

  16. bbes

    bbes Incredible

i use nod securtiy suite. used to use norton but then it got bloated and rubbish and moved to zonealarm and then that got a bit bloated and found nod.

Kaspersky's been my favourite for some time; does a pretty good job at detection while keeping a low profile with regards to system resources. But then again, haven't had an actual virus problem for years =) Avoiding sketchy sites is always the best way haha.
