It happens everywhere and all the time and it even happens to me when I was in Ocean Park.
I was waiting my turn for one of those attractions and suddenly a large group of those mainlanders are coming my way, since the gate opens to let the next batch op people in. They all started running to wards the gate and don't follow the metal fences. They were in so a hurry that one of them didn't notice part of the fence and bumped very hard on to it -devil
Everybody heard the bump and started laughing very hard. Best of all they didn't manage to cute the line and had to wait for the next batch -devil

    .........

    I'm a Mainlander.............................thanks for hating me.

I think they're typical Chinese who want to benefit themselves in anyway. I feel kinda ashamed sometimes when I see those situations in New York City. Well I moved away a few years ago.........The doctor's office situation happened to me whenever I go to see the family doctor. I need to go there at least an hour before my appointment, because all those Chinese patients are there in advance. But it never work.......there are A LOT OF THEM WAITING ALREADY, and they cut sometimes. Glad I don't have to go to see my doctor often.

They definitely need to read about Conficius again and learn manners.

i guess not all chinese mainlanders are like this, its just the few who are and they stand out.
but the doctors situation was crazy, just because ur sick doesn't mean other people aren't.
we got new neighbours recently and im not sure whether they are mainlanders or not but i think they speak mando. i could hear talking really loud almost shouting at 11pm on a school nite.

This is one case, but there are lot of other instances, where I really hate them.
    Here are some instances:
    1. Grouping at the end of an overcrowded downwards escalator!!! Anyone going down will be in big danger. Since there is no way to go, but forcing yourself through the group.
    2. Standing or sitting in the middle of a very crowded street, holding some kind of family meeting. Result no one can go through.
    3. Screaming very loud through a cellphone as if you are talking to a person on the other side of a busy street.
    4. Spitting and throwing garbage on the streets.
These are just some of the annoying instances I witnessed

  10. The first couple who marched right in could of waited for the doctor in line like everyone else cuz they were pullin out xray slides while they were campin the desk and being obnoxious like there was no1 else around which is what they really pretended to be, i knew they were in for an opinion about the slides, it wasn't an emergency or anything at all!

man the card switching really ticked me off... after just bein scammed mins earlier another one tries to scam me in front of my face... these people have no morals

i could still picture the couple pretending to talk to each other while his wife slowly slides my card down the line in place of theirs as i knew something fishy was going on.... i really wish i took their card and just threw it in the garbage at the time, now that i thought about it... i should of done that cuz i'd totally kick their ass if they wanted to fight or talk shit.

i havn't been this mad in years and this totally does it!

    bbes Incredible

this happens cos it's to do with the way that they have been brought up in the past, this was the only way they could survive so they act like this and it get's passed on. this is why it is usually from the poorer backgrounds, u wouldn't rele see this happening with people from wealthier backgrounds. tbh it's the same rele with other poorer third world countries.

It isn't really the lack of Confucianism, it's the lack of social education. You two are different, because you're here talking to the rest of the world and not being insular; so you know what is considered ill mannered or not. You not rude because by your exposure, you're been taught not to be. This sort of reminds me of those Chinese signs during last year's games, telling Beijing how to behave so as to not embarrass China in front of foreigners. So, you see, even the Chinese government (by doing this) acknowledges that mainlander Chinese people's habits can be perceived as embarrassing to the world at large.

Frankly, if one really makes a hard assessment about what makes Chinese people who live in one region polite, helpful, patient, et cetera, while his brethren who live in another becomes abrupt, rude, self absorbed with a "me first' attitude; it really bespeaks of the environment that they were raised in. These are generalizations of course, and as such suffer the limitation of generalizations. But it does offer some insight.

Germany was the classic example in which a homogeneous population, with almost no social differences were separated for almost a half century by political ideology. Upon reuniting, the 'Osters' (ie Easterners, or people from East Germany [since reabsorbed into the FRG]) were found to be exactly like the Chinese typified by the OP. In other words, their system made them that way.

Much of the same can be said about us Chinese, who grew up separated into two distinct groups by political ideology, which resulted in two distinct types of people socially (one generally polite, the other generally rude). Like I'd always stated, we made a big mistake in '97. We never should have given HK to China; it should have been the other way around, we should have given China to HK.

    Politics, anyone? LOL...

    ^ basicly lacking manners?
thing is though, Chinese still have the 大男人attitude and these kind of attitude does not give manners.. yes maybe girls will have the manners but due to upbringing like in a non-wealthy or well educated environment, it will be difficult to allow these people to gain manners

politics? HK follows the UK or maybe the Western world's political idea, therefore back in the 1800s, should have given the whole of China to UK and it will turn out like how HK is right now.. and it will have the advantage of being the Commonwealth country which would have benefitted them and not turn themselves into a non-poor country

it's not about the politics.....& that's one of the 3 things i prefer not to discuss.

It doesn't matter where you come from, it's the nurture from childhood that counts. If you're grow up learning no manners, obviously it will effect you entirely. Don't be stereotype, Latinos do the same thing, too. What we can do now is to teach/tell them what is the right thing. If they don't accept, too bad, at least you tried. If they live long and happily, good for them.

it is kinda politics because the goverment can make the education compulsory in how to make kids learn manners outside of home

Wow ..you hate mainlanders just because of few dumb asses.
In that case, I hate black ppl (you're all are going to call me racist) because some are loud obnoxious, disrespectful.... etc.
My point is we shouldn't judge ppl as a whole just because of few assholes.

^ i was thinking the same thing...
i hate dutch ppl cuz their stingy, i hate aussies cuz they slack, i hate french cuz their arrogant, i hate indonesians cuz their materialistic, i hate lebo's cuz they have huge ego's, i hate americans cuz their ignorant n fake

    blablablabla...

discrimination against mainlanders.... what can i say... my mum is a mainlander n i have friends who are from mainland... their all mannered n educated...
they dont jump in front of u when ur lining, they dont burp or fart in public n stuff....so maybe u just know the bad half... or maybe u dont know any at all....???
u just see some of them n jump into conclusions.... i mean u walk pass sooo many chinese everyday n yeah some stuff happends n now we hate mainlanders!

dont stereotype... of course there will be some that simply are bad mannered, sobs n annoying but still....
it isnt very fair to say i hate mainlanders.... maybe some of ur friends parents are mainlanders or maybe they moved to hk later?
    do u hate them too?

some of them dont know any better because thats "normal" in their society, being away from their own country does not mean they can change in an instance.... they might change later n develop/improve their social skills?
i think something that plays a part in this is also that their much more "thick skinned" then ppl from western countries....
like when some of em would just do something thats inappropriate in our eyes, they wouldnt even see it that way n thats why they dun care

how would u feel if ppl would say stuff abt honkies? (assuming that u are one)

at my work, some of my colleagues say out loud how they hate immigrants...cuz their dumb n arent able to speak dutch n then they look at me n say "oh, but i dont see u as an immigrant cuz ur chinese n u ppl have adapted to our society so well"

    wtfff.....its still damned annoying!!!

anyway, we could start threads on every race we hate then....

my thread would go like this: i hate koreans cuz once when i was walking on the street i saw one clipping his toe nails as i passed him!!
