Anyone here ever asked out a person that works at a place you go to often?

So I've been thinking about this for a while and would like to see your thoughts or experiences with this. Basically the question is: Have you ever asked someone out (or been asked out), like on a date, that works at a place you go to often (ie. restaurant, supermarket, coffee shop, etc..)? I'm curious how many people have gone through something like this and what your thoughts were while it was happening to you. Or if this has not happened to you, please feel free to share your thoughts on this.

I basically started thinking about this when my friend shared his experience with me a few years ago. He went to a blockbuster to rent movies several times a week, and there was this girl there that he started getting interested in. So one day out of nowhere, he asked her what she was doing after work. She wasn't doing anything so he asked her to watch a movie or something. I can't remember the exact details, but basically I was surprised he asked a random girl out like that because it wasn't something he'd normally do. Anyway, I think they went out for like a few months, things got complicated, and they split afterwards.

Right now, I'm in a similar situation I guess. There's this girl who works at this restaurant I go to once every week or two. She's been working there for at least a year or two now, and while I've always thought she was pretty cute (the way she smiles and asks how your day is going is just so *angelic* -lack of better term-), I never gave much thought about her.. until recently when I was thinking to myself how I'm almost graduating from college and I still haven't had a girlfriend. I'm just thinking about possible ways to meet girls after college and since I don't party or go clubbing, meeting girls may be a difficult task. So yeah, one way is asking out a random girl like this. However there are a lot of unknowns that bothers me. Like, what if the girl has a boyfriend. What if she thinks it's creepy for a random guy she sees every 2 weeks to ask her out. What would you ask a girl out to do? Watch a movie? Eat dinner? These are just some basic things going through my mind now. I haven't decided what to do yet, most likely not gonna do anything.. but I want to know what your thoughts on this are.

hmm..it happened to me at my dad's shop, the guys asking me my telephone number but i don't give them the correct number.why?because some are joking and i don't wanna text/go out with someone from my neighborhood.

you have been going to this restaurant,it seems, frequently, and you're been chatting with her sometimes, right?if so,then it's ok,she won't think you're creepy and the best move is to ask her whether she's free after her work to ...drink a lemonade
i don't think it's right to ask her out to watch a movie for the first 'date' because she don't really know you and you can scare her

Here's a great opener; print out your question then show it to her, and ask what you should do. That ought to break the ice... -bigsmiles

    Good luck

LOL... If you don't want to give them your number then I don't see why you feel the need to even pretend to...

umm this might count. I met this chinese girl who works in this chinese shop i didnt really use to go often before in Chinatown. i met her through a friend first and we exchanged numbers as we met for the second time, but after meeting her i often go there with my friend as he always does, to see her. we often go there to talk to her, but i talk to her a lot on the mobile phone and then gradually after a few months, i asked her out on a date and i asked her to be my girlfriend and she said yes. but she gets people coming into her shop asking for her number, chinese and indians >.<

if she doesnt know you, try talking to her first so she gets to know you a little, get her to notice you. once you two know each other a bit, it shouldnt be that awkward to ask if she wants to go for lunch, a coffee, something casual you can do during the daytime - she may not be comfortable going out with someone she doesn't know very well at night. if all goes well then keep going :p

you have nothing to lose, just go for it. don't live a life of regrets.

yeah i had a few people ask me for my number at my work place and i only gave it to one person .. and this was because we talked while he was shopping and he was pretty cute :p we hung out like once but he was kinda boring so it stopped after that ..
i don't think movies is good for this kind of thing, because you two need to talk, and there is no talking if you go to movies, so probably just go out for a drink or something

you almost graduate from college and you don't know how to ask a gal out? is this a joke??

random or not, you just gotta take the first step and get to know the person. if you get rejected, then move on .. come on dude .. you can't take a rejection or what?

there is nothing hard about walking up to someone; telling him/her you have fell head over heel for him/her; and like a date sometime. it's like applying for a job and going to interview ... you gotta initiate the process and interview but don't always get the job.

this happened to one of my friends a few months back....bunch of guys came into the shop
bought some stuff and had a bit of laugh while they waited and when they got the food they
stayed for a bit longer till they all left but 1....and he was there asking for her # but she didnt
wanna give it to him coz she kept hearing them making comments how one of them should
"totally chop her"... in the end he gave her his # which she just threw in the bin...

and whut the hell...who even says "chop her"...?..:xd:

Hmm what I reccomend is make small talk with her, and since you go there often you'll eventually become friends. Just go "oh hey --insert name-- not busy today?" or just ask her like a few questions to get warmed up like "how long have you worked here" "you in college, what college you go to?" stuff like that. and once you guys become friends, you can make your move =].

LOL chop her... that doesnt sound good....

^ chop .. i believe is the direct translation of the word .. i have heard people use that in Vietnam .. but that only applies if she's a virgin.
