yes i did understand that the mother must have been very worried, because anyone would have been. i think the only reason i was mad was because she didn't take any of the responsibility and even put the blame on me and my employers. and i guess now i see that i should have brought the child right in front of the mother so that she would have known for sure he was there. i just assumed that since she was right behind us, even though she was shopping, she was aware of where her son was. i must have also assumed that he wouldn't leave, because parents let their kids roam all the time and this has never happened before. but i guess this is what the mother also assumed

Let me take a wild guess this "mum" is like one of those mother's who lieks to shop and make herself look pretty?
I remeebred when my mum went shopping she wouldn't let me out of her sight even when iwas 6! Let alone not even 2 years old
I think she said why didn't you watch her kid coz she had it in her mind that yeah someone is looking after him so less worry for me to think about whilst i'm at this store. I think you have brought on that responsibility yourself (not mean to sound harsh but it seems like it to me) by playign with him first and letting her think you are there to look after him. Yes she is still wrong to even think that and allow a stranger although with good intentions to keep him company and to look at for him but yes she shouldn't have left him out of her sight.
I rememebred my mum left me outside Boots in this shopping center (mall) and I didn't realised she was gone till i had this random woman asking me where my mum was and my mum never turned up till another 10 minutes and they thought i was downstairs so they searched there first hahaa

stereotyping and hope for the best...
surely if you are a child at about 5 years old and your parents are missing, you are gonna trust the peson who has kids and a husband with her and the fact she didnt ask you to move anywhere with her, she is a good person and not a peadophile?

^ hmm .. i am not so sure about that .. looking back, that's what you believe was the reason behind trusting the lady but at that very moment, i don't think you really thought of that explanation .. she had kids and all that craps .. i am sure had she handed you an ice cream, you'd probably follow her to wherever...lol

Good for you that you didnt lower yourself to this irresponsible mother's shoes and yelled back at her. That certainly requires a lot of patience. Barely 2 years old and walked off 3 blocks alone and yet found safe is really something. i feel sorry for the kid though.
