should've wait for 7......but my old laptop just can't handle my programs anymore...........need a new one so f vista... i'll try 7 laterrr
i installed windows 7 on my netbook ~ pretty nice Spoiler http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/Empror/mynetbook.jpg
We've been playing with Windows 7 for quite a while now at work. Testing it on different hardware and such. Its been running quite nicely, even on older hardware. Some of the newer stuff doesn't have driver support yet. Overall its looking pretty good.
well if Vista users have kept their driver downloads backed up, it will save their time to downlaod it all again when installed windows 7 coz i heard they use the same drivers as Vista... plus for my bf it was for free... but... ( look down) ... i'm looking at the disc right now and it's a copied disc... but he hasn't had any porblems with it yet like he did with Vista but then i have a feeling that thye do what all the other Windows did and as to do the activation in 3 days... wait.. i think there is an activation code on the disc lol...
it's not a copied disc... you download win 7 as an iso.. you burn it to a disc........... and vista drivers are not guaranteed to work 100% on win 7. @ akki, im using a cracked version of vmware workstation atm. i will most likely switch to xen.
^ i never knew that, coz it looks like it is copied onto a disc jsut like the XP and Vista discs that i have seen that are copied, i just presume Windows 7 is copied too
i will recommend the professional for a number of reasons: - Encrypting File System - Location Aware Printing - Remote Desktop Host - Windows XP Modemeaning software that can run in W7, under XP Mode, you can do so (with what is called the virtualization supported by your CPU, must turn this function on in bios) - Presentation Mode - Joining a domain (like if you have home server at home), other versions like the home premium will not has such function Windows XP can only be upgraded to Windows 7 via a clean install. Windows 7 will support in-place upgrades from a lower edition to a higher one using the Windows Anytime Upgrade tool. If you are buying the upgrade disc and you have Vista 32-bit for example; the upgrade disc will contain both the 32/64 bit versions; it will automatically upgrade you to the same version of what you have on the system; If you are planning to buy a new PC (from the retail sector, Future Shop, Best Buy, Dell, HP, Toshiba, etc) staring June 26, all the systems will include an Upgrade Certificate where you can upgrade to Windows 7 after Oct 22 and paying no extra charges on the OS but shipping & taxes may apply;
I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop from 64 bit vista to windows 7 64 bit. Do you know of any major driver problems at this point?
i've dl this.. but not installed yet. will the language pack from previous builds still work on this?i have the build 7127 language pack, but 7260 win 7 now.
i got a few question, first of all like ecko sed, i got a proper version of windows xp (came with my pc ) 32bit can i upgrade to windows7 64bit? about the pre-order, the microsoft store is based in $ i live in UK, so if i do pre-order one from there when its avaiable would it work in the UK or only USA based? i havent bought anything from the net with the currency of $ im really looking forward this w7 lol, i got my pc from cyberpower about 10 months ago pretty high spec but didnt wanna go vista stay with XP ^^ this w7 looks good beside kinder tired with xp now lol shall i pre-order windows7 now on microsoft store? http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Windows-7/category/102?WT.mc_id=winonline_win7promo
there shouldn't be any issues but what edition of vista do you have? because the professional edition will contain the xp mode where you can install xp edition of software thru it and it will run fine; no; if you are purchasing the upgrade version of the W7, it will detect you have Vista 32-bit and it will ONLY upgrade you to W7/32-bit (even thou the retail version of Windows contain both 32 & 64-bit; OEM [not out yet] will contaly only 1 version of it, so either W7/32-bit OEM or W7/64bit OEM; no according to MSFT's website, all users with WinXP will need to clean install their computer(s) to move to W7, therefore no upgrade path from WinXP to W7, only from Vista to V7; REMEMEMBER: the upgrade path is: [ Y ] 32-bit to 32-bit [ Y ] 64-bit to 64-bit [ N ] 32-bit to 64-bit i don't quite get you question about UK & USA; the link you have provided is USD i believe, and it seems like you might have to live in the US in order to get the offer of $49; if you are in Canada, Future Shop, Best Buy, and Staples do have them at 50% off because this is a worldwide marketing from Microsoft, if you pre-order them now, the Home Premium ($64.95) and the Professional ($125) <-- but you have to reside where you purchase the disc to receive the product but once you got the disc you can bring it into other countries to install it; i hope i have answer your questions; for those who are buying OEM computers from retail stores, HP/Compaq, Dell, etc from June 23, 2009 will get a card where you can fill out and send in ur prove of purchase to get the upgrade media "free" when it becomes available on Oct 22, 2009 (shipping & taxes "may" apply); however for those who purchased parts to build on your own, you will have to shell out money for the OS, there will not be free upgrade even if you purchased the Vista OS. No. You can purchase the UPGRADE SKU for Windows 7 (today), but you will not be able to directly retain your installed programs and data from your XP installation. You will need to BACKUP your data, install Windows 7, and then reinstall the Programs you wish to keep (that will work on Windows 7), and then RESTORE your data to the new Windows 7 installation. The computer must have an "activated" version of Windows Vista or XP installed on the machine in order to install the Windows 7 upgrade. OEM and retale doesn't matter.
